That's very easy to say on a web board. Now go tell a few minorities that they need to be replaced.

Like the reject I saw pull into the yard today with THREE corrosive totes on his truck and NOT ONE placard showing?

Yes, he's black. But does being black make someone a bad driver?

No, being an IDIOT does. HE needs to be replaced, before that sort of stupidity starts to effect the rest of us, with the law wanting to climb up my rear end with a microscope every time I get near a scale.

help with a union job

If you want to get a union job pick up a phone book look up the teamsters give them a call, if they have a hiring hall in your area you will have to go in and bid on jobs, If they do not ask them to send you a list of union employers in you area they will do so. if you are in a smaller community the lager town close to you will have a hall. Im not just some slob mouthin off here I have worked non union and union currently I am non union , but im still proud to be a teamster. also every union job I have ever worked I have made more money had better benifits and gotten more respect from my employer unfortuniatly I had to relocate (transferd in a union company to a non union area of the same company another state) quit 2yrs after, cuase it was like workin for a whole differnt corparation waited way to long to quit . Also dont listen to these they can never fire you from a union job BS stories, the creame rises to the top baby when I worked union I had the best most qualified co workers I have ever worked with and I they wanted to fire someone you can bet they would find a way to do it. I have seen it done If they <the employee didnt meet the expect level or abalities they were written up three times and let go real easy like, good luck partner.

yeah, bad deal, your pay will double and you will not have to work off the clock. you will be paid for your miles and compensated for your non-driving time by the hour. the most amazing thing will happen! you will earn a decent living running a legal log book. yes, it's a terrible thing, but you will have to pay dues. probably around $45.00 per month. damm rooten isn't it. because you will now have a job that won't keep you from home for weeks at a time, outstanding medical benefits, better than average blue collar retirement, and remember your pay will probably double. could the old addage,"you usually get what you pay for?".

Like the minority I work with who put coolant into the oil sump... and there were no consequences... the same minority crashed a body job into a hotel facade with no consequences... and the same minority puts fork holes through trailers with no consequences... I could go on...

I did look up some local union shops--Looks like I'd have to move to Memphis or another large city not only to get a good union job, or any good local job!

Oh well, I did some research and found a decent non-union OTR job.

If I was willing to move to a big city, no doubt I'd get a great job, union or non-union. 'Till then, for me it is going to be OTR for a few more years, I guess I just love paying low housing costs living in the middle of nowhere and driving all over the place.

Still, went ahead and got some more endorsements on my CLD recently. I'll still keep my eyes open.

I've never seen my DAC, but the recruiter to my new company pulled it, and told me "Your DAC is as clean as it gets!"

I guess I just need to keep working best I can, always looking for the best deal, union or not.

I went from a non union to union LTL Job. My pay did not double.
Most union drivers were not lazy. Most Union LTL drivers put in
a good days work. There are so many things to consider you just can't
say one is better than the other.

dues

58 a month covers me....

hell I was "on the clock" 2.5 hours after getting caught behind an accident

the fed ex next to me was sweating bullets - I made enough to cover my dues for THE MONTH and buy a burger at the other end...

two years ago I tried to get hired on to ABF. For some reason my hireing was halted. I'm not sureif it was corperate or if it was union but I was given no reason for it. I have lots of experience and a perfect record with references a mile long. The only thing I could think of is that last time I moved I lost my resumes and so I guessed at some of the dates on my past jobs. I did tell them this though as I didn't want any surprises
