Now if you have a trucking company and want to pay your employees union pay and benefits you can go to any union hall so they can come in and talk to your employees and negotiate a contract.
PlumCrazy i'm not here to argue with you because I see you are a fellow teamster and a co-worker and you have helped to defend our union on another thread from this board very well, but, I know some guys over at Allied Systems that own there own trks. and they receive union benies like co. drivers. Not real sure about UPS Freight though.

I finally got someone to call me back. Was not very helpful. I was hard pressed to get the pay rate and current fuel surcharge (.89 and .22.5) All he wanted to know is if I wanted an info packet (duh, or I wouldn't have emailed and called a few times). So hopefully I will like some of the other stuff in the packet. .89 just will not do it for me. Unless the benefits are really good.

Anyway I Have Mixed Feelings About The Union But I Would Definately Drive For A Union Company, In Most Cases The Wages And Benefits Are Better
I retired after 32 years at UPS. I started in the "sort" part-time, sorting packages, then after a few years of that got a full-time job driving a package car. After 14 years of working my rear end off, I finally bid into a feeder job, running between Southern California and Reno. My final bid was Ontario to Phoenix/Tucson. I never knew ANY "prima donnas" at Brown. It wasn't tolerated-period. Management is extremely tough and while the job does pay very well, it is not an easy gig. Perhaps you should research the subject before inserting foot in mouth.....

Being with a union company gives you more job security. As we now are living with what is called (at will work states) were the company needs no good reason to get rid of you. With a unionized company their are steps taken by the union to insure if you are being terminated that there are legitimate reasons for the terminations. If you have the chance go with the union company especially in the trucking industry were there is nothing but disrespect towards the drivers from most of the trucking companies. (you will see the difference)
