Of course, the union mentality at work...
I think you need to reread my thread. First come, first serve is what i'm talking about. Can you honestly say your next in line for a dock and after waiting an hour for someone to unload, a ltl driver rolls up and you won't mind letting him cut in line? If i had all day, letting a guy in front of me with 1 skid would be no big deal, but i don't. It's a daily battle to get in and out before shift change.

Well, actually there's a reason for that.

We LTL drivers just don't have time to be waiting around, not when we have 15 other stops plus pickups. After all, some of us work for a living.

So, what they'll do is call the shipper and say "either unload this truck or he's leaving, and you will be paying a redelivery charge". Most places don't care to be slapped with redelivery fees.

Just out of curiousity...

Does this statement mean that the other OTR or whatever drivers do not work for a living?

Well, some are lazy and do demand that everything be done for them.

I don't have time to wait for people to comply with such demands. I'd rather just bump the dock, pull the 1 or 2 skids off the truck myself, get the bill signed and say "have a nice day". I get done faster, and get home sooner that way.

Most docks I go to have 1 dock left for the locals like you. Unfortunately, we cannot make them unload or load us any faster. Wish we had threats like yours to help.

Thankfully, the area I work doesn't have any of those places, since it's mostly rural.

I realize the ltl drivers make quite a few stops in a days time, but when this guy ( holland driver) has no respect for what you do the b.s. and line cutting stopped right there. I put in a 12 hour day, some drive 12 hours just to get there. He made a big scene one day at the shipping office at chrysler, and an ### out of himself. They told him come earlier, wait in line, or come later, or we can find another carrier. He comes in later now. There's places i go where i don't mind letting a guy slip in and get a skid on or off, but attitude has alot to do with it. We are all out here doing the same thing, i just don't care for someone thinking his job is any more important than mine.

Oh okay, he was a Holland driver. That explains it. Holland drivers are union.

UPS on call drivers deadly job. I worked on call at Brown for several years. they ran me off because I complained about the d.o.t . Fatigue rule.the union took browns side. if you think that you can be called anytime day or night and can drive safely 14 hours afterward you have got to be a Ohio sherrif
