working call boards

all you had to do was say you were fatigued and take a slide.

all UPS barns have this option available - as do all roadway / holland / yellow / abf barns.

is it a pain in the ### when they call me - sure... but we have an update message that list the next 20 drivers and how many hours the last guy dispatched was in... so you can get a feel for when you will be running.

I've heard of drivers telling dispatch that they have already had 6 beers, but they are ready to go out right away. Amazing how quickly dispatch will find someone else for that load!

No, you misunderstood what I said. It's one thing to complain. It's quite another to go into someone's office and make a spectacle of yourself, like this Holland ignoramus did.

enough loading dock wars

I am a teamster dues payer--35./mo delivering local lumber/ rolloff, tnt.
It is a dream job, 0500 to 1330 every day or later. 3 year old pete379, ac, cruise and stereo. except for the wage.
13.00 /hour. got 8 months driving class a, but they started me at top scale. at least 3.00/hr low. Im so poor I cant't afford the initiation fee--200.00---so after my second letter of ultimatum[ first was a deadline oct 20] they are going to have me removed from dispatch, soon I suppose. IRONY sends me elsewhere, again. I am getting two more 3 day weekends on christmas and new years, If I make it that long. guess I'll ##### out to a temp agency and be forced to take a 2 dollar raise, or so. Hoffa magic

Some locals will allow you to make monthly payments toward your initiation fee. Have you asked about it? $13.00/hr seems awfully low for Ca; still, with the bennies that works out to about 17/hr, right?

USA variation

I have talked to some locals in california that have job classifications that we do not have here in ohio...

"the high paying jobs are available out there - and so are the lesser jobs."

- you seem to have one of the extremes on the lesser end of things...

I talked with ray g.
*poke poke* and he said there are some guys who work in hesperia (right up the road from you) making 12 bucks an hour - and represented by teamsters....

the kicker is that prior to organizing they had no bennys - and were making 9.50 an hour.

ask some of the older guys working your job classification - I imagine you will find that theye were making a lot less prior to organizing.

and if the pay is not what you need or want - go to your local and ask for a lead. it is THAT easy yet a lot of lower tier teamsters never do it .

and for the record I am not making fun of rays hispanic heritage - it just cracks me up when he signs his whole name (78 character I guess) .

i have no idea but aren't there more white drivers then black.

right?

idk..maybe its just the way u and the other guy were talking about minorities..sounds like you were talking bout Neanderthals...or monkeys or something..im pretty sure theres plenty of white drivers who have done the same thing or worse..or maybe you just only notice the minorities..because there just that an MINORITY.
