Update On Trucks

Thanks a lot Big Daddy I will keep them in mind when I get my license. I would like to get stared in a tracker strait away, instead of wait a while to work my way into one, but you have to do what you have to do, plus I do live so close to them it is worth my while to check them out. I have been doing a lot of research on companies around this area and have been building a list of places; I could go to and see if they would employ a newbie. Good luck in your search and if you need any info let me know

Defiantly go check them out.#You like so close and thats what they're looking for and the commute wont be an issue. Also once you get your cdl call the tanker companies and try to get on there class b trucks. One of the guys from my school got lucky and got on with a energy company and was put in the class b oil trucks, the diesel trucks and now also drives the tractor trailers at $23hr. He does what ever they need done and its all the same price. Best Of Luck, Keep Me Posted on your schooling and search.

I go for a tryout on thursday/friday as a helper to see if the job at EPR is right for me. The manager wants to make sure I understand its not just a driving job,its physical work. He doesn't want me to take the job and then quit in a couple of weeks. They pay $170 a day for 8 - 10 hrs, I'll keep all of you posted.

The day went great The job is picking up recyclables from redemption machines at supermarkets and liquor stores. Bags of plastic, cans and totes of Glass. The totes hold 100+lbs. of glass. I'm very excited about the opportunity to work for this company(EPR). We have a drivers meeting in the morning to go over the new accounts they picked up and for me to talk with the manager about my training & road test. They need to see me blind side & sight side then take a road test to determine how long training will be if anymore is needed after Friday. I dont mind either way,I just want to do the best job I can while gaining experience.

Second day was busier with a lot of glass. I talked to the manager and told him I like the job. He's going to send me for whiz quiz some time next week after he talks with the main office. I will continue to look until he calls and says your hired as a driver(swing driver). The job pays $170 a day for 10 hr work. some days you work 6-8 hrs others 10 hrs you get paid $170 regardless. Its city driving throughout Boston, Ma,the suburbs and eastern Ma & now the Cape. I'll keep everyone posted.

FIrst day went Well, Long day. Went out to Cape Cod then when we came back. I dropped & hooked trailers, docked a trailer then Bobtailed with trainer to ryder to return a freight-liner then drove a (true) Mack back to shop. Trainer wanted to evaluate my shifting with no pressure of pulling a trailer. Everything went Fine. They want to break me in slowly so I enjoy the job and just relax and drive. I like the job.
