I got it !

Well I got my CDL after 12 long weekends of school. It took me two tries, but I got it done and over with. I think I was in the zone, couldn’t do anything wrong. I am just so happy. So now its on to the job search I am still not sure what way I want to go, I am just going to way out all my options. Looks like thing are going good for you Big Rob happy to hear that.

Congrats are you looking local or over the road? Local jobs in taunton check out the Lopes companies New England Recycling on rte 44, Triumvirate Environmental Somerville,ma and Rich transportation in taunton,ma(industrial area off 495 exit 9 i think). Check out Rich's asap My cousin called me to let me know someone quit but After weighing the options I need to stay put. Good money, good bennies and weekends off and if its not closer to RI or more money(an future) get the experience 1 -2 yr then I can look for tanker in RI or union job. Once again Congrats.

Great week, One of the first companies I applied to back in feb/march contacted me for an interview. I went in money is good, around the corner from the house but NO BENEFITS. It was container work m-f. I declined the offer. It would of saved me $50 in gas but I need benefits for the kids.

Great Day, I blind sided into our hardest account on friday That made my trainer happy for two reasons. 1 I'm done being a driver in training and He can take all of his vacation time because that account can be covered. He said to always remember to take your time and dont rush for anyone. Have a great Mothers Day weekend.

Did my first route with no trainer in the cab. Had a great day in cape cod,ma.
I think its going to be tough being the swing driver as I enjoy driving and running a route my way. As the swing driver your just a tag along ( house guest who doesn't leave)in someone else house, drive when the other doesnt want to or is out sick. But, I'm enjoying the experience.

DAy 2, Today I drove the boston route. Not bad but my gps tried to screw me up a couple times. It lost its signal going through the tunnel and I took the wrong ramp. It brought me to some tight turns but I handled it well. What a learning experience.Tue & wed I'll run my own route be cause of the holiday then back to swing drive/helper.

I will try to be brief but here goes;

Workweek is Monday thru Friday with occasional weekend work (I have done Saturday work twice this year).
All work is during the day with the exception of 1 night driver (by bid).
$23.46 per hour. Overtime after 8 and Doulble Time after 12.
Overtime for all hours worked on Saturday and Doulble time for Sunday.
45 min of breaks per day.
Paid from the time you clock in until you clock out. All drivers start between 5 and 6 am.
6 paid sick days at 8 hours per day. Can accumulate up to 12 days before you get paid out.
Vacation paid at 1-5/2 of your previous years gross pay. 1 yr-1wk, 2 yrs-2wks, 5 yrs-3wks, 10 yrs-4wks, 15 yrs-5wks and 20 yrs and above-6wks.
12 paid holidays per year at 8 hours per day. If you work on a scheduled holiday, you are paid Double Time and one half for all hours worked.
40 hour work guarantee.
Jury service paid at 8 hours per day. No limit on amount of days but they like to try to keep it a 20 days or less of jury service
5 funeral days paid at 8 hours per day. This is for each funeral for a family member from either side of your family. I try not to think about that too much.
Retirement totally paid for by the company. Currently, it is $4.36 per hour for every hour you work.
We pay $68.00 a month for medical. This covers both you and your family. It covers medical, dental, optical and prescriptions. Doctor visits have a co-pay of $5.00.
The wife says dinner is ready but I will end this by saying that our dues are $63.00 per month and drivers make between 70K and 80K per year.

Sorry for the spelling and let me know if you have any questions I can answer or clarify for you. I know there is more but dinner awaits.

Drive safe
