Hoffa Says More Free Trade Deals Will Worsen U.S. Economy

Hoffa Says More Free Trade Deals Will Worsen U.S. Economy
1/28/08
Quote:
President Bush wants to do exactly the wrong thing to our economy by negotiating more of these so-called free trade deals.
Deals like NAFTA, CAFTA and PNTR have been a disaster for American workers.
Now that we’re looking at hard times, the last thing we need to do is to send more good jobs to other countries.
It is especially unconscionable to support a trade deal with the Colombian government, which killed 72 trade union leaders in 2006. Union leaders in that country are routinely subject to armed harassment, arbitrary detention and forcible displacement.
American workers have been under attack by the Bush administration for seven long years. But a trade deal with Colombia is beyond the pale.

A Union HACK telling us what will "hurt the U.S. Economy"

Okay, they shot 72 union leaders, but what was the downside?

Did I say I was? I was asking a question.

It seems like some truckers here wouldn't mind giving their jobs to another country. I want to know if I'm inferring this correctly.

No, it indicates that as far as I am concerned, I don't trust Hoffa or anything he says. We can sign all the trade agreements we want to, my job is not moving out of the country.

And the Staff is entitled to have opinions, humorous or otherwise, just like anyone else on here.

No, but they might decide to give it to some foreigner willing to work for about a quarter of what you make.
