Union wages

hey bud, Thanks to the Union you probably make more per mile than you would with out... I am a proud member of Teamster 509 I have worked non union and union trucking jobs, I will take my chance with the Teamsters... if you were smart you would too

uote=MTC2665;491229]why would you want to go union? do you hate to work? anyways unions are outdated and need to be taken out to the pasture.

I'll put it this way I go to a Union Wearhouse.....hmmm safeway Tracy, CA takes them 8 hours to unload a 3/4 full truck IF im lucky.

I go to some hole in the wall wearhouse like Gilber Paper in Stockton, CA take a Mexican and a pallet Jack 45 minutes to unload 44K pounds of paper, unions are what brought this country down to the way it vis, they guys who works for what he has gets fired but union boy who cant scratch his balls without calling his union rep dont do anything and makes $$$

So let me understand this. All of those drivers sitting drinking coffee in a truck stop complaining about their job are union drivers? The ones complaining about how they are treated by their companies are union drivers? The ones complaining about no pay are union drivers?MMMMM odd.

Even at UPS Freight Truckload division the drivers are wanting to join but the IBT are not interested why is this? I think truckload drivers need help more than any LTL company Why dont they (IBT) Want us Someone please explain. I dont think anyone can. But please try
I was just reading the March/April addition of my Teamster magazine. The title of the artical was:

"Teamsters organize first truckload carrier in decades"

This happened in late August by a vote of 30-3. The company is called USF Glen Moore. They are located in Kansas City, Missouri.

Some of the items discussed were an increase in mileage rate (didn't specify), less out of pocket expense for healthcare (previous, $100.00 per week. Now, $50.00 per month), Teamster retirement plan and pay for all other on duty time that was not paid to them when they were non-Union.

Hope this helps.

Drive safe

i drive for upsf ltl division, as far as truckload your right i haven't heard of the teamsters trying to organize them, my guess would be to much competition from other truckload carriers to make a profit paying ltl wages, just a guess but even when we were overnite the mileage rate for an ltl road driver was a good bit higher than there truckload division, i guess just to many truckload carriers out there, but who knows if usf GM did maybe more will,

i pull over if i get tired for 15 or 20 minutes or to get a cup of coffee, the rest of my time is getting the freight there on time, then take a break when i get there, not every 15 minutes

Well I think that, in a sense, it MIGHT be true that many people are living pay check to paycheck. But I don't think that it means they are one away from ruin. Actually, with the amount of debt that people have, coupled with their vast inability to spend money wisely...THAT is the reason people are so strapped. A good paying job isn't going to cure that, only masks the ongoing problem. If people started to get out of debt, they would be so much better off financially. For example...I figured out that, when we get out of debt, we will have an extra 3-4,000 a month.
