Truck I thought teamsters don't work by the exploitation system

Hey get wiser guys, today, mileage pay is the way to be abused and exploited by anyone. With load/unload times increasing due to cheap lazy mexicans, ooops, OUTSOURCING LABOR..., hourly wages are the only way to keep trucks rolling
AND money in your pocket.

Do the Unions still have the Will or Power to change it ?

Main Question is how do I sign up for a Union job ?

Mileage pay works fine - if the miles are ...

1. available

2. at a decent rate

3. paid actual hub miles (not zip code)

couple mileage pay with normal rate time paid (clock time) and you have a pretty fair set-up.

I have never heard of this...

My experience was to fill an application out at the Roadway terminal -

talked with the HR guy for an hour -

he hired me -

2 weeks later I went through a 4 day orientation in which 1 day was dedicated to all things Union...

paid 100 bucks out of my first check for initiation fees...

and since then about 60 bucks a month...

Pretty much the same here, except at UPS we paid the initiation fee in quarters over the course of four weeks.

Well all I know is we went in order to put a truck on the owner or driver had to join. And they told the other guy who was looking to operate equipment they needed him but he had to be union. So he called union hall in Houston. No problem bring $600 for the book and then we will put you on the list a BTW you will be # 501.As for what the book is all I ever heard about this book is.It was a way to get out of doing something.I have heard many say the book says we dont have to do that because.
Maybe it works diff up north are for Teamster freight haulers.
