well... the election is over.

looks like card check will be the standard next year...

I would imagine that will reopen the door for the FedEx package car guys to organize... they tried a few years ago - and secret ballot numbers were VERY close and results contested.

time will tell

That's a shame (The card check/supervised voting). If it is such a great idea then why not practice it in more areas? You say you trend conservative at times but I wonder could you still do it if yours and your families health were threatened by those that didn't agree? I just fail to see how anyone can intimidate anybody if noone is sure how each other actually votes...just seems like a shame.

Card-check would also lead to a rapid jump in unionization. This is not, despite what your Teamster friends might tell you, a good thing. Union participation in the private sector has been on the decline for decades and, not coincidentally, during this same amount of time, on average, productivity has skyrocketed while unemployment has plummeted. Unions produce frozen labor markets, which increase unemployment and class stratification while lowering productivity and economic growth. And the unions' politically negotiated wage gains also encourage inflation. Go for it Barack, hasten the decline of our economy.

more company intimidation comes from card check than anything...
(ask the Overnite boys)

regardless -

cardcheck helps those who want to organize - and opens an easy door for ones who do not.

Sure, we hear so often about Companies acting like thugs, never the union. Gimme a break.

So Mooney - what is your experience with card check?

you seem to have a vested interest in this topic - which is unusual for someone new to the industry (you show 0-1 years)...

Kinda curious as to why you are so against it.

I'd argue with you, but you'd probably ban me. You seem to not want to hear anything bad about your beloved union, no matter how un-American they act. Have fun paying someone to keep your job.

Mooney - I am giving you an opportunity to explain yourself.

Insulting me - and my "fellow brothers" is not the way to make your case.

You started posting in the Teamsters forum VOLUNTARILY...

If you do not want to explain yourself - and remain civil - then perhaps you should stay out of here.

thanks.

The title of the forum section is Teamster, OOIDA, NAFTA. No where does it say "only good things about unions". Maybe you should institute a policy of checking union membership in order to post here I guess.
