George McGovern Comes Out Swinging Against Card Check

Mark Impomeni [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. about Obama and the Democrats wanting to pay back union support by getting card check passed.
"Card Check", typically referred to by Democrats in Orwellian fashion as the "Employee Free Choice Act," would require that employees vote for or against unionizing while standing in front of union thugs without a secret ballot.
Tonight, during the 2nd debate, George McGovern — yep, the far left former Presidential candidate George McGovern — is going to take to the airwaves in opposition to card check.

Here is the Ad. He does a good job.

Part of the logic behind a card check / secret ballot is to minimize the influence of both the Company reps and management - and the Union Organizers.

There is just as much "thuggery" on the Company side of things when some of its members wish to organize.

I hope you can understand this point Ronno.

As for Mr. McGovern.... I thought he died 20 years ago... YIKES!!!

so I assume this is a commercial to be run during the debate - It will be interesting to see what media comments emerge from it.

Why is the UNION asking per Hoffa wanting the Goverment to protect the pension plan.In a Bail out.I though there retirement was untouchable. The wall street journal stated the pensions plans are losing money big time like the 401Ks.

Our pension plan has nothing to do with this thread - or "card check"

BUT...

Pensions like any mass employer amount of cash are invested in the open market.

The Teamsters pension fund is not just sitting - it has been invested.

Up until a few weeks ago it was holding pretty well - but with the market drops lately there are fears that (for the short term) ground will be lost...

When you are talking BILLIONS of dollars invested - it gets scary to see 30 -40 million disappear overnight.

Well if its nothing to worry about why is Hoffa asking the goverment to help. They did nothing to help when the Stock Market drove oil sky hi so they should stay out of it.Anyone knows what can happen in the stock market.Remember the Depression????

Any campaign that wants to confront the populus openly, is a campaign of fear.

Not once has the Union proven that employers hide thugs behind the curtians to force an employee to vote against a Union. Employers and Union officials alike are guilty of strong arm tactics.

Based on the logic of the Unions....all future elections for Political office will be decided by number of registered voters...not the actual voting process. What a wonderful world tht would be....mob rule.

This is a clear and present danger to the American worker. And I don't give a rats ### what current Union members think.

Our elected officials should be held to the same standards then, they should have to get on C-span and publicly ask for every stupid piece of pork barrel legislation instead of burying it on page 500 of some bill. They would suddenly feel the card check is a bad thing.
