Gotta love how this guy spits on the people who are walking the picket line.

I wonder what kind of mother he had. I'll bet she is proud of her little boy.

I didn't see any spitting either and my resolution is great. I did however see a bunch of boneheads trying to make a point by endangering their safety and that of the driver by standing way to close to vehicle. Shame when adults act like scholl yard children.

I would not think twice about being a "scab" driver.
I don't believe unions have a real place in modern society, and if I was offered good pay to do it I would drive for anyone.
I can also see why company's do not want unions. The union offered no benifit at all to the company. The workers are no better, they are no better trained, and they do not work any harder. All for the hassle of having to go through a bunch of BS like that company there is.
Unions drive up the cost of everything we buy, and they are putting American company's out of business.

His lips were moving, talking
But no spit
It takes some puckering, and I didn't see it

For the most part, I agree with you about unions. The only unions I feel are really necessary are things like the Ironworkers unions. I know a few ironworkers, and my great-uncle was one. Those kind of unions are still necessary.

Why do you feel the Ironworkers are more needed than the Teamsters?

I think "our" industry is at a much greater risk in todays world...

As for replacement workers - as long as there are people willing to do "it" for "less" there will always be a struggle - and the extra funds and mobility will always fall into managements pocket...

If everyone had the "replacement worker" or "scab" mentality we would all be working for minimum wage.

I do not have an issue with the existence of the Teamsters, as they do serve a purpose. Would I become a Teamster, probably not. The safety issues involved in something like being an ironworker make that union necessary. My ex-husband and one of his brothers are ironworkers. I know enough about the work that they do to realize the need for that union. The safety issues with the kind of construction they do are immense. They are the ones that put in the support structures for bridges and buildings all over the country.

To my mind (and this is just my opinion, nothing more), unions are for protection of the workers from unsafe working conditions and unfair employer practices.

My hubby's grandmother was involved in the labor movement back in the day, and even got hauled off in a paddy wagon once. She was a member of the Autoworkers Union (once that got going), and the things she told me about the conditions in those days were disgusting.

Not all industries need to be unionized. I have heard some pretty lame reasons for unionizing workers, for example hotel workers and grocery store workers. I worked in hotels when I was younger, and was never exposed to anything that made me even slightly feel the need for a union there.

The Teamsters, Autoworkers, Ironworkers, and similar unions are fine, and necessary. A Hotel Workers Union or Grocery Store Workers union don't serve much of a purpose to my mind.

This I agree completely on. Would I want a 'scab' worker flying a plane I'm on - NOT! Would I want to buy a car put together by a 'replacement worker' - I don't think so. I could go on, but two examples are sufficient. Have to leave some for others to post!
