Kieft Brothers Workers Seek Out Union Because of Pay, Benefit Issues

Nine drivers who deliver concrete pipes and pre-cast manhole covers in Elmhurst, Illinois recently joined Local 673 in West Chicago.

Congrats to those drivers, I used to belong to 673 when it was run by a family of half wits. Last year the drivers got together and threw the bums who were running that local out of office, now it's a pretty good union again.

It will be interesting to see what their new pay and bennies will be. I haul concrete pipe here in the KC area. No problem with pay, we are paid on % and zones, as long as we are working. The wet weather and a dip stick dispatcher are our problems, and a union can't help that.

Unions aren't going to fix the weather but they can give you some leverage with a bad dispatcher.
