If your trying to support a family you couldn't even think of getting a second job to make up for the crummy pay especially with Wal-Mart.

They like to flip-flop (1st-2nd-3rd) your shift all the time. They schedule your days on & off 1 week ahead of time. They may call you in to work because someone else didn't show. They may even call you and ask you not to come in.

They pretty much treat you as part time help, but expect you to be 100% loyal to them .

This 1 I'm not 100% sure about but have been told by a few employees. Wal-Mart's health Insurance even if you can afford it SUCKs and they keep it that way so not many buy into it. The less that buy the less that make claims and keep their true cost down.

Unions at the very least would at least establish some playing rules for that kind of stuff.

I'm not for all Unions some do suck and even some of the Locals of good Unions suck. BUT if you do get a good Union to represent you the dues (usually $40-100/mn) more than pay for themslves.

Try to hire legal representation on your own if you get mis-treated at work and see how much it cost you.
Why bother with all that?, why not get a job that fits your needs?

Folks act like Wally World puts a gun to their heads to force you to work there.

Don't like getting jacked around on your schedule, find another place to work.

No other places to work? Then suck it up and smile.

And I worked somewhere that was union and management walked over the employees and the union stood there and watch them do it. Didn't lift a finger but by God, they got those dues, or you didn't work there! Ok so if the job is crummy why stay there? No is forcing you to work there so go find something else. And I beg to differ with you about Wal-Mart's insurance being awful. I have had some of their drivers show me the different plans they offer and it looks pretty good. Gives you a choice of deductibles, out of pocket expense and co pays... they just don't give you one plan and say "hey it sucks but you take it."

Walmart is not a career if all you plan on doing is checking or rounding up carts.......

I don't get it......People want to get paid professional wages for jobs that basically require a 6th grade education.....and then they want to unionize those same jobs......

(I'm waiting for the day when unions sign Day Labors......it's going to happen......mark my words.....)

Boy...that makes sense......Even if the union can get you $15.00/h to stock shelves....you might not work every day......

Remember unions make their money on membership...The more they have working and then "Stand against the wall or "Sitting in the Hall" the better.....They still take your dues whether or not you are working.......

Sounds like the ObamaCare plan does it not????

BINGO!!!!!

WCP you have hit it right on the head. This is the biggest reason our nation has so many financial problems. People want huge money for little jobs. It's that belief of entitlement.

I worked PT hoilday help at Wal-Mart and made 12.50 an HR hell I did not mind it at all. Heck made my familes Chirstmas alot better than it was going to be. Hell I was pulling home 150 a week for working 18 hours a week. I loved it hell it could have been worse I could have been a CR England Lease Driver or an Acorn worker.

I worked at a Wal-Mart for over a year and was darn glad to get that low pay at the time. It's what the position was worth. I did what the scanner does now. LOL

Bunch of E TX WalMart butchers signed up for union membership. Got their little petition and marched into WalMart management and demanded their "rights". Wal Mart immediately terminated them as they from that day on had no more live butchers in TX. All meat has been prepackaged ever since then. So they bit off their nose to spite their own face. And the union just slunk away into the night. No lawsuits. No help to those that lost their jobs. No nothing.

the meijer here in indianapolis isnt a union shop, i know that for a fact

when i was 17 i worked for kroger, and it was union......barely

i made $6.00 an hour and payed $13 a week for union dues, initiation was something like $120

the union did absolutely nothing for you, we didnt have a steward or anything.....and they had so many teenagers working there none of them had a clue what a union was for or how it can help you

i think the union only benefited the people who were career kroger employees like the 20 year cashiers.....ill hold my tongue on that

The Meijer's in Dayton, Ohio are union. I know that for a fact. I know two people who have worked there, both of them were living in my home at the time.
