I heard Publix was better to work for before they expanded out of Florida. They get bonuses and pay.

If I would have gone to work for them in highschool I could be retired now.

My friend in California works for Albertsons and they tried to lay him off.
I told him to contact his union rep and they went to where he worked and
told them that they have to lay off the most junior personnel at the company before
they could touch him.

You just described what is wrong with unions.

There used to be a time when Unions did a lot of good out here, did a lot of the American worker. But now it seems most of the time all they're worried about is collecting the dues.

Why not fire the least productive employee first?

you cant compare the Ibew or any construction union or any oil union to some union at a retailer or automotive. Retail store and auto unions are 90% unskilled and part of the self entitelment thought, Ibew and the oil and constuction workers finish a four year apprenticship to learn their skill.
Constuction workers have a need for unions, you woundnt want some guy telling a laborer to build the most important part of that bridge we rely on everyday.
some are good and some are just whiners that want big pay for a small job.

No union ever changed one law. Go back and read "How a Bill becomes a Law", no mention of unions.

Walmarts profit was $12.7 billion in 2008. I'd say he earned it. The CEO oversees 4300 stores, and employee is in charge of an aisle.

I'd say the CEO is underpaid and the employee overpaid.

Just cant believe these people that think,in most cases,a high school education or less is deserving of big wages. The ceo of all companies runs the whole show,is well educated, paid back a hefty college bill and worked his/her way to the top and in alot of cases as in where I work is the owner. Unions are not the answer to more money in your wallet,it is a skil, education,or just plain old fashion working harder.
take some accountability for what you make and where you work.

I worked at a WalMart DC for four years, and they told us right in our meetings that if anyone ever attempted anything to do with a union they would be immediatly terminated.
