Walmart is one of the most coveted trucking jobs in the industry. What in the hell do they need a union for?

This is not the trucking side, but the retail store side.

Well Target was convincing its coworkers not to get in a union. Since Targets pres took the helm of Wally World, I am guessing thats where this is coming from.

If I remember right, most workers at one walmart wanted union. They all went "on strike." What did walmart do? They closed the place permanently.

I don't blame them.

As far as those cashiers and stock clerks go, the union isn't going to do anything for them but collect dues. I know two people who worked for Meijers. My daughter, and my wife's best friend who passed away a year ago, she worked there for years. If you live in the midwest you probably know this store. They are the chain that Walmart stole the supercenter idea from. Meijer has been putting their "super" stores up since the early 1980's. They are union. Both my daughter and my wife's best friend made #### working there. Less than $10 an hour and they took union dues out of it. They'd have been better off working at Walmart, at least they would have gotten a bigger share of their crummy paycheck.

Meijer is union? Wow I didn't know that... maybe the union contributes to the store employees crummy attitude sometimes as I perceive it.

Why does every retailer have to be unionized as far as the unions are concerned? It should be up to the individual retailers and their employees. For crying out loud quit forcing the unions down everyone's throat... they're contributing to the loss of jobs in this country.

If you have ever worked at some of those places you would understand why!!

For that crummy check they expect you to be a Loyal Employee.

If your trying to support a family you couldn't even think of getting a second job to make up for the crummy pay especially with Wal-Mart.

They like to flip-flop (1st-2nd-3rd) your shift all the time. They schedule your days on & off 1 week ahead of time. They may call you in to work because someone else didn't show. They may even call you and ask you not to come in.

They pretty much treat you as part time help, but expect you to be 100% loyal to them .

This 1 I'm not 100% sure about but have been told by a few employees. Wal-Mart's health Insurance even if you can afford it SUCKs and they keep it that way so not many buy into it. The less that buy the less that make claims and keep their true cost down.

Unions at the very least would at least establish some playing rules for that kind of stuff.

I'm not for all Unions some do suck and even some of the Locals of good Unions suck. BUT if you do get a good Union to represent you the dues (usually $40-100/mn) more than pay for themslves.

Try to hire legal representation on your own if you get mis-treated at work and see how much it cost you.
