Off topic but those engines are built by Navistar not Ford. But Navistar no longer provides diesel engines to Ford because they got into a dispute over warranty issues. I also read somewhere that Ford engineers insisted on certain things with regards to the emissions systems on these engines that made them rediculously trouble prone and overly complex. Regardless what happened one thing is clear these are the biggest piles of junk diesel engines ever produced. I feel sorry for them every time I see someone driving a Ford diesel newer than 2003.

I know they are built by them. Most of the International engines did not have as many problems as the Ford versions. It was what Ford added to them.

I know the 7.3 had problems that the Internationals did not have as well.

I liked the Fords prior to the ridiculous 08. I had to decide on a new truck and went to Dodge.

It was Ford's fault. You were right about that. I'm a Ford guy too and I ended up buying a Dodge when what I really wanted was a Ford. The last of the good ones - an '07 with a 5.9L Cummins. Contrary to all the flack Chrysler gets about lousy products (which I used to believe) it's been a great truck and I would not hesitate to buy another... ...unfortunately the new ones with the 6.7L, while not quite as bad as the 6.4, have their own issues so much so that it's doubtful I'll ever buy another new pickup truck again. But why would I need to when the one I have will last a million miles right?

Mine is also a 5.9 built 10-2006. It is an 07 as well.

I have over 332,000 on it.

My only real complaint is that alot of the parts have to be purchased at Dodge and cannot be bought after market. This sucks because they do not stock anything.

Yours is a work truck obviously. Mine's just a toy it's only got 40,000 miles on it. I haven't really had to mess with the service counter for anything nothing's ever broke on it yet. I stocked up on my filters from the internet a long time ago. They mark up prices on that stuff way too much at the dealership.
