| Re: Ok Ladies Start Forking Out Best Seasons I posted my Apple Cake recipe already -- one of my favorite desserts -- so sweet and moist -- mmmmmm! I wish I had all of my recipes with me -- some of my favorites are still with the ex-hubby -- somewhere in the mess of a house he lives in. Maybe when I have a little more time, I'll post my recipe for Baklava. It's not as sweet as most of the Baklava you'll get in a mediterranean restaurant, because I make my own syrup instead of using Honey or Rosewater. It's very impressive to look at and decadent to eat, but amazingly simple to make. The hardest part is cutting it. When I hunt it down, I'll post it. Last edited by keelady; 11.16.2006 at 06.50 PM. | Re: Ok Ladies Start Forking Out Best Seasons I copied the recipe for Apple Cake here for you. There are several recipes here in the Ladies' Room. Check out the threads titled "Hey Cybergal, it's time LOL" (Luvmyhubby's Cranberosa), Favorite "it's turning fall" recipes (Z Lady and Azraelle have some yummy sounding recipes there among others), Paddy's Favorite Dinner for a stick to your ribs Irish Stew from Boilermaker (Julie) and there are a couple of recipes to make on a truck with a lunchbox cooker on here too. I'd provide links to the threads, but haven't quite figured that out yet LOL! Sounds like maybe we need a "Recipe" sticky thread here. "I have a recipe for an Apple Bundt Cake that is out of this world. I got it from my ex-mother-in-law and it is the strangest thing in the world when you're mixing it -- you can't use a mixer -- the mixture is so 'dry' and thick you have to mix it by hand. But after it cooks, it is the moistest cake you'll ever eat. Here's the recipe: 2 eggs (beaten) 1 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil 2 Cups Sugar 3 Cups Sifted Flour 2 Tbl. Vanilla 1 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda 2 tsp. Cinnamon 3/4 tsp. salt 1 Cup Chopped Nuts 4 Cups Chopped Apples Beat together eggs, sugar and vanilla. Add oil -- beat until smooth. Sift Dry ingredients together and stir into egg mixture. Add nuts and apples. Mix well -- mixture will be VERY THICK. Turn into greased & floured tube or bundt pan Bake at 325 for 1 hour or until straw inserted comes out clean. If you want to frost it, you can use a caramel icing drizzled over it, plain bundt cake type icing or you can pour warm caramel sauce over it. I like it without icing myself. Caramel sauce: 1/4 cup butter 2 Tbl Flour Dash salt 1 cup Brown Suger 1 cup Water 1 tsp Vanilla or Rum Flavoring Mix suger and flour. Add to water. Boil suger, water and flour until clear. Remove from heat. Add butter, and vanilla or rum flavoring. Serve warm over cake. This is also a great cake to take to a potluck gathering. If you make it, let me know how it turned out." |
