Do you feed the birds?

In the winter time?.....if so what types of birds do you get at your feeders? Which is your favorite?

I throw bread out for the birds in the winter. Thinks for the reminder... That's what I forgot to do yesterday... and the day before... LOL. I put a partial loaf down in the cabinet a few days ago that was getting stale and keep forgetting about it. I should go in the kitchen and put it on the counter now before I forget about it again... LOL.

I also have 4 hummingbird feeders I put out in the spring... Love hummingbirds. You know.. they have a nasty attitude though. They are very possessive little creatures...... lol. Pretty though.

Yes, I feed them here at home and also at work.

At home, we have mostly cardinals, house wrens, sparrows, finches, and woodpeckers... and I put out sunflower seed, niger (thistle), and keep a suet cake mounted upside down on a branch of the big tree out back (for the woodpeckers).

At work, we have a myriad of bird feeders to appeal to a wide variety of birds. We have several different types of finches, house sparrows, wrens, cardinals, mockingbirds, chickadees, titmice, and several other species that I cannot name. But the activity at the feeders is just about constant, and I love watching them flit around.

During the warmer months, I often take my lunch outside to sit by the goldfish pond and watch my feathered friends during my break. And no matter how the day may be tumbling downhill, I can almost always regain my footing there.

yes, but only during the colder months. i don't agree with feeding wild animals usually. when i get something i'm not renting i plan on planting things to attract birds and other wildlife (natural forage type deal)

no, to heck with them i say. they hang around always looking for food after the first offering of food. then they roost all over the eaves, roofline, and tree's. then they leavr thier "calling cards", you know, their poop all over the place, like the top of the vehicles parked in the yard, all over the pickett fence, every where. i have to say its ugly looking, all those "white spots" all over every thing.........

nope, fly-fly away dirty poopers..........let the stray cats, coyotes, and birds of prey feed on the hungry birds..............

then i'll have cat, coyote, hawk poop to contend with...........

i just can't win the war on unwanted poop..................

I always throw my stale bread out for the birds. It's better than being wasteful. When I owned my house, my favorite hobby was building birdhouses. Had them lined up all along the fence line and had all kinds of birds just loving them. What's a lil' bird poop anyway...lol! Have ya'll seen the birds at truck stops just having a feast eating all the bugs off your front grill? I love all creatures big and small. Gotta stop sometime and just enjoy the lil' things in life!

Yes

Yes, I put sunflower seeds in the bird feeders because the cardinals love it. They are my favorite. I also cover pinecones with peanut butter and dip them in bird feed because My children get a kick out of watching the squirrls eat the peanut butter. I don't like the blueJays though because they are bullies. Though I find it funny to watch the blue jays fly down and take the dog food out of my dogs food bowl. I guess they like it.
