I was just asking a question about food costs in the "The Truck Stops Here" forum thread. Hopefully we'll get a little help there also. So, far it looks as if I could have just read others replies to your thread starter. Maybe some of the ladies here can tell us about any "deals". Mine does have a small burner plate or something, but he burnt it or the converter out, over amped it I guess. He also has a cooler that has a converter. He buys at Walmart mainly. Good Luck! |

I've thought about PAM. I see the starting wage is low. But I expect that unless I'm willing to pay for my own training and then find my own job. Can you anyone tell me what is wrong with them other than wages? Suzi

9 years ago, when my hubby did it, home time was a big thing! They'd get him out and keep him as far away from home as possible - rough on a marriage!

We have a little fridge and mico in the truck. But the best thing we got for the truck was a seal a meal for the house. I seal up left overs for him and they stay good for days and days in the truck. Some of them I freeze for him too. He cooks most his meals in the truck. We have APU on the truck too so that makes it much easier to run all the electric stuff. But get yourself a seal a meal they save you tons of money at home and in the truck. Mary

I guess I am in a different situation than most on here. My Driver gets "home time" about once a quarter which he uses to go back to Idaho to see his son. I use to have to drive to see him once a month....now that he is sorta dedicated I can drive 3 hours to spend my 4 days off with him. As for food LOL if he is picky good luck, try freezing and get one of the "bakers" at a truck stop its kinda like a crock pot and only about $20 well worth the price. Make sure you get a good cooler/refer. You can get some of the dinners that do not require freezer and you can heat them up in the baker. I would suggest after he finishes you need to ride with him a couple days, that will give you a better idea of what he is going through and how best to get stuff together for him. It opened my eyes WIDE and I really enjoy the time alone we get. GOOD LUCK its a hard road being a drivers S/O there a a bunch who will help you on your road

Hey! first of all im completely new to this site. my problem is, my boyfriend of 2+ yrs has decided that he wants to drive a truck. of course im def. not thrilled about it! One reason is that im so used to him being home and 2 some pretty bad things happened between his dad and mom. i wont go into details but theyre not together anymore. his dad has driven a truck 4 a long time. I just dont wanna end up like his parents ya know. it scares me! we lonve eachother so much and i know in my heart that everything will be fine. its just really hard. Im in nursing school and he has a crappy job so money is pretty tight and that the main reason why ive agreed to let him drive. I dont want him to make a career outta this but the main thing is is that hes happy with what hes doing! I doing better with accepting that this is whats gotta be done bc if he doesnt get a new job, our dreams of marriage and buying a house will never come true! someone plz help me

I don't know I always been a firm believer with Trucking jobs especially that where there is a family or another person involved, then it takes more then one making a decision to be gone and accepting this profession. Sounds to me with nursing school and then a job after school you will be pretty busy which is good. I personally would not think about his mom and dad's relationship, and worry about your outcome based on their mistakes. That could be a problem for you and your guy. YOU have to make your own roots with this relationship and not feed on bad negative energy. YOU put your age down at 18. I would say you are pretty young and if you and your boyfriend are meant to be together down the road of life, it will be! I can say that because my second husband and I were meant to be together. We knew each other thru school and went our separate ways and after spending years away from each other and going thru some issues and problems with a first husband and him with his first wife, we made it back to each other... Take one day at a time and remember to support each other thru the rough times.
