Can someone explain something please?

I am trying real hard to understand something my hubby did and finding I can't.

He is coming in from Las Vegas, and has reached Bakersfield. He has been gone since the 1st. I asked him if he had the hours to reach home. He said yes, he did. So I fixed diner, and waited. And waited. And waited. When he finally over 2 hours late, I called him.

His excuse makes no sense. He now tells me he didn't have the hours to do it. Okay, fine. You know I fix a really nice dinner when you come home. Why didn't you call when you discovered you couldn't quite do it?

"Because I thought you would figure it out when I didn't show up on time."

Someone explain this so I can understand it? I have been in this industry for 5 years, and this answer still makes no sense to me.

Ummmm...I can't explain it...cause it makes NO sense to me either!

I do know that I would be asking some questions and getting to the bottom of this though.

Comunication is essential but so is saying you are going to be home.
UNREAL!

Someone has some explaning to do! My hubby did something like that ONCE - he was coming home from a 15 day out, called and told me he was running out of hours about 5 hours from our house, but that he was coming home - he stopped 1/2 way home and thought he'd grab a little nap (we have 3 kids - he needed it), he fell asleep, I kept calling and he answered drowsy - I knew he'd fallen asleep - now he doesn't call until he's getting off the highway near our house! Learned a valuable lesson though, don't expect 'em til their parked in the driveway!

Give him hugs and kisses when he first gets there, then "KICK" his butt later and serve him peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner! LOL

In a nutshell.........He's a man. They don't think! Ok now I'm ducking out of the way. That excuse wouldn't fly with me either. If this is the first time he did something like that I would let him slid but tell him that in the future please consider the fact that you do not have a crystal ball and there is an invention called the telephone and that he should try using it.

Definetely a guy thing. I don't understand it either. My man and I had problems with this many years ago. For some reason, men seem to think that it is a way of controlling them. I said that I didn't care when he got home, just don't tell me that you will be here and then not show up. It took awhile, but he finally realized that all I wanted to know was that there was no accident, no breakdown, no problems. Why can't he see that if he said that he would be there, and he didn't show up, you would worry?

guy thing

I hate to say this but its not a guy thing. I allways let my wife know when i was comeing hom and when i wasn't. I have had to shut down 1 hour from home due to road conditions or wore slap out and couldn't get there but i allways called on the radio or the phone or sent an email. That is the hardest part of beeing a truckers wife is the not knowing and we put you gals through enough with just our jobs with out adding any thing else to it. I know when i first came over here to the sand box my wife had to put up with me beeing gone from home as well as knowing i was in a war zone driving thru hell every night and not knowing if i was alive or dead untill i could call her when it was all over maybe a day or 2 betweeen calls or emails and i know it put her through hell. So to say you would figure it out is not a valid answer or excuse either. How would he feel if you were out some where and just didn't come home for hours or so after you were supposed to be home he would be mad as the devil i bet so he needs to put the shoe on the other foot and see if he would like it.
