| A Wife's power... A WIFE’S POWER A good wife is to a man wisdom, strength, courage; a bad one is confusion, weakness, and despair. No condition is hopeless to a man where the wife possesses firmness, decision, and economy. There is no outward propriety which can counteract indolence, extravagance and folly at home. No spirit can long endure bad influence. Man is strong, but his heart is not adamant. He needs a tranquil mind and especially if he is an intelligent man. With a whole head, he needs its moral force in the conflict of life. To cover his composure, home must be a place of peace an comfort. There his soul renews its strength, and goes forth with renewed vigor to encounter the labor and troubles of life. But if at home he finds no rest, and is there met with bad temper, jealousy and gloom, or assailed with complaints and censure, hope vanishes, and he sinks into despair. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This old clipping came from a Vernon, AL newspaper dating back to 1880... enjoy, then tell me what you think....

| A Wife's Power ! replying to GuysLady! GuysLady.................What a wonderful piece of wording to share with us....... I am 52 yrs young and with all my experiences in life with men as far as beig a couple.........................I have met Mr Right! I do not wear rose colored glasses and I pay attention to my GUT. We have things in common , but yet we are different .................We met when he (Mr S) came to shoe some horses. He then took on the chore of building new fence and repairing the barn roof for a good salary.................I did my best to work for him and with him, it was a hot and smoky, this summer...and we did the work of 6 people and fixed 30 yrs of neglect on the farm..............in very good time, where I work and currently reside......... When I first met him and we spent the day working I said " I must be lonesome or you must be special".......................never said or thought of anyman like that...............I speak my gut and stand my ground...............and I have no regrets to this day for my actions in my personal life, "GuysLady". I asked him personal questions ........... several ............and got answers............ Well to make a long story short.................Mr S , chose to drive for the winter. He had called me one day around 3:30pm (He was fighting his head)..........and chose to call me.............and share with me what he was thinking...............he didn't want to take his shoeing business elsewhere and do it incorrectly, he wasn't financially prepared for months down the road............and I agreed with him............... That was the first part of Oct. So now.................Mr S calls me once a week and I text him every other day or so ( were both trying to pinch pennies)I keep my phone calls and text messages positive and I focus on him only...................I leave any drama out of our conversations.............I am a very good listener to his grievences (sp) about his job as a driver.................... "This is certainly a test for both of us"..................I hope we pass! |

| Guyslady....if they only knew how well we SAHM's (was one for 17 years myself!) can manage multi-tasking and organization and moodiness of 'co-workers' They could just go to the schools and get the PTA member lists to go off of! |

| Oh yeah! Ya' know, when I filled out apps for the trucking companies a few months ago.. all of my references were school teachers and principals! LOL! Oh if only they could understand all of the things a "housewife" does!

| Returning to work... I was home for 12 years, and although there is somewhat of a story to my return to work, I will say that the job came to me. My suggestion to SAHM's wanting to get back in the job market would be to either sub in the school offices and build up some recent work experience... or get involved in community activities and network with people already in the workforce. It's my experience that if you can demonstrate your skills, employers will want you. I don't think you can rely entirely on education and a resume' anymore. Employers like a preview of what they are getting, and where I work, we find that word-of-mouth brings us the best employees. Network, network, network! Good luck, Guyslady!

Yeah that just irks me. Your Mom gives birth to you, feeds you, wipes your *ss, and your nose, cares for you when your sick, raises you, struggles with you and finally you're on your own. Then the only job she can get is one that involves the words, "do you want fries with that? OK Drive thru". That's disgusting to me. My wife worked for 17 years as an Insurance Broker. She worked hard, but never got the promotion she wanted. Finally her Boss told her the reason I'm promoting a man, is because he likes to party and can take the clients out and get'em wasted and dance and party when they want. You can't do that!!! Then to top it off, one day after 17 years of faithful work, he called her into his office on Friday evening, 10 minutes till 5 PM. He said, thanks for all those years of service, but you won't need to be here Monday morning. I'm scaling back and you and one other girl are going to be laid off, because you two are making the most money and have the highest benefits. I have to cut expenses. My wife never said a word, but was in shock for 2 days. She decided to stay home and started selling on Ebay and Gunbroker.com. She takes care of the house, the weenie dawg and me. She goes once a week to the Nursing home to visit the old folks and brings "Cowboy", (the weenie dog) and lets him spread a little love. A couple of times a year, she gets a couple of musicians together and goes to sing for them and put on a little party. I don't think she'll ever go back into the work force.
