| I'm so sorry to hear about the latest. The lure of the team money does call, but you have babies!? Driving with him isn't even an option for many, many years. By the time you raise your kids and your future kids, you might change your ideas about driving with him. But for right now, just humor him, listen to his grand schemes, let him get started out there. Reality will hit him at some point and he will realize that it isn't possible in the near future and will say so. You will be the supportive wife, and he will still get to make the decisions.

| Welcome to the forum Mrs. Nash! And Leann is right, for now just remind him about the young'uns and that shoud be the end of that. However, if you can make some time, and arrangements with a relative to watch the kids, you may want to do a ride along. I can unterstand how you feel, but getting in the truck and seeing what it's like may change your mind. And FYI, if you guys were running team, you'd be sleeping while he drives (and vice versa), so you guys wouldn't get that much time together. Good luck to you both, now I will sneak back out of here...

| I thought the same thing - then I went OTR with Mike for three months and really enjoyed it. It had its bad points and rough times but it was much better than being home alone all the time. Thing is, my kids are grown. I wouldn't even CONSIDER it if my kids were young. Good luck and maybe some day you'll drive together |

| Not all truckers wives are destined to drive in this world! If your heart is not in it, it won't work. I drove before becoming a dispatcher. Now I leave the driving to my hubby as Iam real happy where Iam at. |

| Thanks Everyone for your input. I don't think he's thinking clearly right now anyhow... I thought maybe he forgot about the youngins..lol He did mention the Rider program before and that I would really like. He said maybe in the next 6 months or so we could arrange it and have My Family watch the kids for a week or two. At least they'd be on Summer Vacation. And I agree - If your heart is not in it - it wont work. Just like a Marriage I won't knock they idea completely out ... But I am still years and years away from ever considering it. I will Just Humor him for Now as suggested. And I didn't know teaming was like that ? I have no clue about these things still. But I am still learning ! For some reason I thought one would drive and one would be riding the whole time. I'm dorky... ![]() Thanks Again !!

| Excuse me, I was peeking over the wall and overheard this conversation about your hubbies plans. When I met my wife I was already a truck driver. My wife told me she had always wanted to drive and I thought this would be a great way for two newlyweds to be together and make good money, since the team pay is not split and goes into the same household. My cousin was an O/O with several trucks and he wanted my wife to go to school and then her and I would run In to Ca and back. She backed out and did not do it. Years later she told me the reason was she was worried about city driving and backing. Well; Duh I think your lead driver can handle that! Anyway, we had a child 2 years later; so it would not have lasted long. I would say if you don't mind new adventures do it for a few years and bank the money. See the country and make money while you do it. Good luck to you both. Monkey slips back into the shadows. Careful ladies I am listening! The wise old monkey bets your hubby drives for stevens.

And the Money is the main basis for his idea. I guess time will have to play out and see where the future takes us. I have been reading about Husband/Wife teams on this site. They have given me an idea on how it works. It's rather interesting ! Thank You for your Post. ((should I be concerned that he is with Steven's ?)) I have found major negative stuff on here and positive too. I think it will all work out for him and us.

I would advise at this point just doing his time there till he gets enough stick time to move on to a better outfit. Personally I would never work for them, but it is not good to bail with a short time with a co either. This will make him a thick skinned and he will be able to tolerate any company after stevens. My wife is always worried about me and I have been up and down the road a few times, so I guess it is just something that wives do. Just hang in there and ride it out. There is a lot of trucker's wives on here to lend you their support and there is that wise ole monkey that monitors the board! Your hubby is like most truckers. The money is what they focus on. We do what we do because it is a part of us, but we also think about making things better for our wives and children. You are focused on your kids and that is good. That is the mothering part. The dad's tend to think of how to make things better for them since we are not there much.

| I know that I am a Man posting in a Womans circle. Please excuse me this once. My advice. is Kids first in this case. but reason gently with him.... We men don't think things thru.... My kids are grown now and My wife is getting a College ed to do Billing and coding and hopes to do a bit of it while on the road with me. I love the thought of that! but she has told me not to push her to team. and I won't. |
