| You've been staring at the computer for hours. You've worked late all week and have in-laws coming this weekend. You have a raging case of PMS. Eyestrain, stress, and hormonal shifts are fairly common causes of headaches, which afflict 45 million Americans (most of them women). Some people say the roots of their hair hurt when they get a headache. But sometimes the usual suspects don't explain that pain in your head. That's because some triggers are just plain weird -- like perfume, storms, earrings -- or even orgasms. Here's how to identify the source of your headache so you can send it packing. | Yup, and the more scent-free we get, the worse it gets when I go near anyone who smokes or wears certain perfumes. It's awful. Tip: Get your allergies under control. Having them fully under control (however you manage to do it) helps keep the headaches down a bit. I got shots for years for allergies and they worked. I also found a nasal spray that fixed my normal stuffy nose from dust, etc., and wow... my headaches are MUCH better and so are my colds. I don't get nearly as stuffy and sore as I used to. Also, massive doses of Ibuprofen work really well. I was prescribed 600 mg, two tablets every four hours for my wicked migraine-like headaches and it works. MUCH better than taking narcotics!! Of course, you can't do this day in and day out but a few days a month or every other month, it's great. No narcotics, no prescription drugs. Works for me. Oh, and no upset tummy or ringing ears, either! LOL Headaches suck!! |

| CyberGal, sounds like you have trouble with your sinuses if the weather affects you. You might want to see if a decongestant can help with that on bad days. I haven't had a tension headache in years. I had one just before Christmas and I'd forgotten how nasty they are |

| I used to be the queen of migraines. I have them under control now, but sometimes the weirdest things will set me off. Heat can really bring them on. I need to move to a cool, foggy climate |

| ROFL Leannamarie. You just describe a good portion of Nova Scotia and Maine to a "T". |

| And I would love to make it up there someday. If I can be outside, the heat doesn't bother me so much. But being cooped up indoors in the heat is miserable. But thanks to the wonders of modern drugs, my headaches are mostly under control, and when I get them they are nowhere near as devastating as they used to be. |

| That's good. It's never hot here compared with California but it's very humid here. We put an A/C unit in our livingroom year before last and it cools most of the house and gets rid of the humidity. It's made my life MUCH easier. A/C is still more a luxury here than a normal thing. |

| Leannemarie try Or or Washington. if you want cold and foggy Once I found out I had asthuma and it was caused by allergies and started taking zyrtec D~ I do NOT have migrains. If I skip a dose and the weather changes or I ge near someone who has perfume or stroing body lotion I get stopped up and g a headache. I have to admit that moving here has helped ALOT. This time of year I use to be bad off but I havent had but one headache. Well and that was NOT caused by environmental LOL well ok if you want to include Drivers in that then he was the reason LOL
