She held on, though, and despite all that happened, the child was born healthy and remains so yet today. Mother is fine, too. Yep, Tarps... ya' never know.

| When my son was just 9, he said something that to this day stays with me... I can hear his sweet little voice telling me these words... I was fighting for custody of my nieces, and my brother and his wife were playing nasty games. I really wanted to give up. I really really did. And then my son looked at me and told me "Mom, if you give up on them, it's like you gave up on me or Jolene." I know that the circumstances are different, but I know that is what he would tell me in the that situation too. If I were to go on that way, at least I would go with my son's approval.

| Abortion is too free flowing in this country...far too many doc's here have that mindset that if conditions aren't perfect (for mom OR baby)...just tell your patient to abort. Saves them from having to deal with anything 'out of the norm'. And I have it in for Geneticists too. ![]() Don't get me going! |

| You know, William is "out of the norm". And we knew it. Thank God I don't believe in abortion, and I had such a wonderful doctor!!

| My youngest daughter is a child with the *genetic flaw* that prompts most abortions...up to 90% of women who have a 'positive result' for a high risk of Down sydrome abort. Sadly enough, alot of them are FALSE positives too...Lord only knows what the true numbers are. Too many Doctors and geneticists are way too quick to turn to termination...they don't have enough regard for human lives to take the time to educate themselves about Ds and other genetic abnormalities within the family setting, only in the scientific. In their eyes, too many times it's 'get rid of the imperfection'. Regardless...if these women, heck these DOCTORS, could spend some time with my daughter, and your son, and anyone who in their eyes are 'imperfect'.... they'd know what *perfection* REALLY is. She's imperfect in the worlds' eyes...but perfect in ours. I'd never want to imagine life without her, as I'm sure you feel about your son. Off my soabox now. ![]() (Oh...and I did not know about my daughter having Down syndrome until she was born, because I refused the tests...and I would NOT have terminated if I had.) |

| We're on the same page MrsSkid! William can convince MOST of the world that he is perfectly "normal"... but the truth is, he has an audio processing disorder that was called a "genetic defect" before he was born. He's a brilliant young man, with an IQ of 143, and a personality that delights everyone he meets. He only has one "flaw" that anyone ever notices. He is brutally honest. If the jeans don't look good on you, don't wear them around him. ... "Mom, those jeans make your butt look like you should be wearing a 'Wide Load" sign." And it is not said to hurt... he just wants you to go change so you go out looking your best. If I had listened to what the first doctor said, what would I have cheated the world and myself out of??
