Now, wait just a darned minute...

Men (and you know who you are) are just weird. That's all, just weird.

Ratchet didn't like being gone all the time (even though it didn't bother us all that much.) So he is making us nuts because he's itching to get back behind the wheel. He's talking with 2 different companies that don't run reefers (yay!) and I am hoping he gets a good, firm offer in the next few days or I'm gonna kill him.

Men.... sheesh.

Mine does that bit too! Last summer he got fired, and I had to go all the way to Denver to get him and our daughter.. (I was NOT leaving a fortune in equipment in Denver blast it!) When he got back here, he swore he would never drive trucks again... I couldn't handle it! Pestered him into getting a job. Once he got on with Ron, it was all a rollercoaster from there! He's back to lovin every minute of it, and lives for the LONG runs!

Once diesel gets in the blood... you never get it out!

YEP just when HUBBY is on VACATION he drives me NUTS!

I finally talked him into taking one week here and one week there thru the year so not to have them all off at once.

We take the same vacations and one week without him driving is enough to send me to Therapy!

It does get in your blood, doesn't it? I think that's what has surprised me the most. He never reacted like this when he was hauling local. He was only otr for 2 months and it's got him. I don't know how he will reconcile his need to be home with that "diesel itch."
I truly believe that, if that employer had kept his equipment in working order, he wouldn't have told him to shove it. He would have learned to deal with the goofball dispatcher, the crazy schedules, the loneliness, in time. He just won't drive equipment that has a dozen OoS violations that the boss won't fix.
I also truly believe that there isn't anything but driving that will ever be right for him. Never. He takes pride in what he does and he will never be "just a trucker" for me.
(i tease him about being a gearjammer and he loves it. always makes him laugh.)
*sigh* I'll tell you, these guys are really something, aren't they?

So true, and once it does you can't let go. Some days I would not mind if it would let me go!!!!!!!

Big wheel's rollin'; Big wheel's rollin', movin' on.
Big wheel's rollin'; gotta keep 'em goin'.
Big wheel's rollin', movin' on.
The white line is a lifeline to the nation.
And men like Kix and Ronnie make it move.
Livin' like a gipsy, always on the go.
Doin' what they best know how to do.
Jammin' gears has got to be a fever.
'Cos men become addicted to the grind. (The grind.)
It takes a special breed to be a truck drivin' man,

And a steady hand to pull that load behind.

Big wheel's rollin'; Big wheel's rollin', movin' on.
Big wheel's rollin'; gotta keep 'em goin'.
Big wheel's rollin', movin' on.
Movin' on, yeah.

All night country music keeps 'em goin',
Kix and Ronnie keep on movin' on.
Hey, big hot cup of coffee, is waitin' up ahead,
An' the rhythm of the highway hums along.
Jammin' gears has got to be a fever.
'Cos men become addicted to the grind.

Yeah, oh you been drivin' all night long.
Movin' on.
Why don't you let me take the wheel for a while.
What's that?
Hey, buddy, aren't you supposed to have your eyes open?
We're gone.

Brickman, what is it? What gets you? It's been baffling me but it sure is a reality.

I have it too. I don't know what it is, but I know it is there. There are times when I am actually afraid to get on the highway... 198 goes to 99.. 99 to 58.. 58 to 40... It actually seems to start calling me to come out and play at times... I want to GO, I NEED to go! And I don't care where. It doesn't matter that he is the one driving, but it HAS to be the rig!
