GuysLady what about some potato soup? If you don’t salt or pepper it to much it should be okay on that abscess.

If it's an open sore in your mouth, then swish Milk of Magnesa (sp??) in your mouth a couple of times a day. If it's an abcess tooth then put Neosporin on a cotton ball and wrap around the tooth. Keep on there until you can get to a dentist.

Actually, it's a shard of a tooth that was pulled eons ago, but the dentist can't do anything yet because it is still an active, uncontrolled infection. As soon as it's controlled, he will remove that shard. If it were open, it would feel much better!

I'm giving you my soup recipe but also going to tell you what I make when I'm sick. It's easier and a lot blander.

SERVES 8 -10
1 lb bacon
8 cups peeled and cubed [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.
2 cups peeled and chopped [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.
4 cups chopped [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.
2 teaspoons [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.
˝ teaspoon pepper
4 cups [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.
6 tablespoons [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. or [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.
1 cup shredded [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.

Chop bacon and then sauté until crisp.
Place potatoes, onions, celery and salt in a large pot with enough water to cover the vegetables.
Simmer until tender, about 15 minutes. Add Bacon after 10 mins
Puree just until chunky in blender. (do not drain the water off)
Return to soup pot; add half-and-half, butter and cheese.
Stirring, simmer until piping hot. (Do not allow to boil.)
(if enjoy it thicker, use instant potato flakes to thicken)

This is what I do when I’m sick:

I make instant potatoes but I substitute chicken broth for the water and then after they’re done I thin with milk until it’s the thickness I want. I melt cheese in it and use either mild cheddar or if you don’t have it on hand use cheese slices or velveeta. Just don’t add pepper and salt.

I hope you feel better soon.

Pack it with the Neosporin, I had to do that with a broken tooth that kept having an abcess and I finally had a root canal done. I'm waiting on the first of the year to have the money for a cap.

Thank you Ladies! I put Neosporin on it and stuck a cotton square to it last night. Now, at least instead of being a hard mass, it's a very mushy kinda thing. At it's not quite so painful.

I'm going down to get potato soup fixings as soon as Melva gets back with the car... It sound way too good right now!

Thank you Thank you!

Do saltwater rinses too. It may sting a bit, but salt water works great on infections. I discovered that living on the Gulf of Mexico for 5 years. I've done it with tooth problems before too. I can't believe I didn't remember that one sooner! Bad girl!
