Casualty Helicopter Life Thread for a Newbie. Gonna roll myself!

I really wasn't sure where to post this but the ladies forum looked perfect since I am a woman.
For starters I am a 39 yr old woman. I am currently divorcing. Why? Because my trucking husband loved the control factor, made alot of crazy financial mistakes with his truck and lost everything (twice), and physically assaulted me whenever I stood up to him.
Now, I'm trying to put my life back together and after being unemployed for ten yrs, I've come to realize that I too could possibly drive a truck and support myself.
I've already begun my adventure. I went last week and got my CDL permit on my own.
I started night classes to instruct me how to drive.
My credit card is now maxed out for the $3000 tuition.
Guess what I'm needing here the most is support from the other ladies who have made it.
I feel so overwhelmed with all the stuff I'm trying to do at once.
First night of class we were informed that "We MUST do logs every day from here on out" because we are employed with the school and the DOT is auditing them. Wow! Happening fast!
I'll be back on everyday if I can.
I want to think of this thread as my little life tale with my trucking career. At the end of ten weeks--------I'll etheir be trucking or begging for foodstamps.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the encouragement !
I really needed the boost today.
Today I must go to my lawyers office and turn in paperwork. My ex is sticking it to me good. He sold the truck (put it in his lovers name) and is leaving me with taxes and the income from it this yr with no paperwork to turn in to the CPA! Another hard lesson to learn.
Plus-----his criminal lawyer keeps post-poning his CDV charge. This makes 4 months now on that. And he hired a PI to locate me, so now he knows where I live. But I am not running anymore! I take my stand and I'll take whatever he dishes out. After ten yrs of being knocked around and broken down, I think its time I stand strong.
And Yes, I did meet someone after the seperation who is good to me. And Yes, I do watch for those warning signs.. So far, so good!
He wants to get his CDL too and do team with me. His job in corporate is playing out since a take over.In the next yr or so, he'll be hunting a new job.
I know trucking isn't easy. I will show some respect to my ex for that. He was a good driver, he just was too obsessed with controling me.
Tonight we start air brakes!
Last night was hours of service.
Its a 4 1/2 hr class and they are currently changing staff members after some of them quit. So our instructor has a new trainee and a bad attitude about some internal happenings there. Could this be a bad sign?
One lady student whose there said it's been going on since last yr. She took the course and failed it 3 times already.
The instructor also gave us our tests to bring home and I swear I don't remember her covering some of this stuff. I looked it up on the internet.
Well, Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone.
I'll be back tomorrow with the inside scoope on tonights air brakes class.
Tina

Ex's can be sneaky jerks when it all comes out in the wash. Good luck to you. You will do fine. If you believe in yourself you can do anything.

Ok....Last night at school------videos, and more videos.
We watched them and then the instructor came out and gave us a test 50 questions long. If me and my Bo hadn't studied the air brakes section in the manual on our on we would have failed.
None of that stuff was covered on that video.
I hope she doesn't teach us our driving skills the same way cause that's the part I really need.
No wonder the poor girl in the class has failed hers 3 times already!
I've paid way too much money out of my own pocket to get crappy instruction!

On the flip side I went to the lawyers office and he seemed cheerful on my proposal. My ex can have his 3 semi trucks/personals/pickup/etc. And he leave me my house. The values add up close with same amount with it actually being in his favor.
I even told the lawyer he could have his "ding ding" enhancer back. LoL! Valued at $150. My Bad!
I have to find some humor in it all or I will cry.

Well, I have to get ready to shove off to class. I took my camera last night a got a few pics of our 4 man class. I'll up load some in my album later.
I really hope and pray our instructor knows what she's doing and things are different when we get behind the wheel.
The other female in my class says she only has about 2 actual hrs behind the wheel! No wonder she failed the test 3 times. Takes more than 2 hrs to get the feel of the truck! She also told me that the other students passed theirs because they had friends who allowed them to practice on the weekends in their personal rigs. She nor I have that luxury of a friend with a semi for practice.
Is this training course screwed up or what!
