| Well.... the reunion It was like anti-climatic. Here are people I had spent my childhood and teen years with. People that one way or another helped form my thoughts and actions. And........ nothing. It was like meeting with people that you've seen a few times on the bus to work or something but not really interested in seeing what had been going on in their lives. I did manage to embarass and po'd my hubby and it was due to my yapping. I'm not happy about it myself. Well, not that my husband doesn't make pretty good money but our finances have been stretched due to family and my dabbling in the real estate market and nearly losing my butt. There's to be a dinner Saturday night at the country club and I don't want to go. I said I didn't want to go due to: We couldn't afford the $50 EACH for the dinner. That's what it boiled down to and wouldn't you know one woman said 'we'd work it out' and that's when I realized what had come across in my statements. Well, hubby was MAD and upset. I got the class gossip to the side and we talked about different stuff and I let it "slip" how much hubby makes weekly and that we were just not wanting to spend that money at the moment until we clear our finances. I know others make more (pediatrician was there for one ) and some less. Now I wish I had taken some duct tape and USED IT ON MYSELF. I ain't going to no $100 dinner for me and hubby. Nope. Not even if we came into some money this weekend. Well.....naw. |

| Sorry you didnt have more fun meeting up with old friends. Sometimes the other people just dont 'get it'. I have been very lucky and most of them have enjoyed re-telling all our misadventures. |

| LOL! My husband has come up with a phrase that he lovingly will say to me when I start to have diarrhea of the mouth...."You don't have to tell everything you know." I know when we are with friends or family, and he reaches over and rubs the small of my back and says that phrase that it is time to shut up. When I was four my mother was very ill and in the hospital. Back then it was safe to leave children unattended, and children weren't allowed in the hospital back then, so my dad left me in the waiting room with my coloring books. A man came in and sat down, so I did what came naturally and struck up a conversation. After about a half hour my dad came back in. The man stood up and said "Are you Mr. Henderson?" My dad said yes he was, and the man pointed at me and said "Sir, I know your whole life's story." I have NEVER lived that down in my family, but it is still true about me to this day. My mom says I was born talking and haven't shut up in 44 years.

| Well, my mom never let me say or do ANYTHING while growing up. If I were offered food or drink while at someone else's home I better turn it down politely or get my behind WHUPPED royally! I ran through my aunt's house one time in front of the adults and said to mom "I gotta go pee" and she whupped me. When first at my in laws' home I was so quiet they thought I was stuck up but I was still following my mom's rules. At school I was extremely quiet. I got a lot of: THAT'S YOU?? And a few of: you were in MY class?? because I was so quiet in class. I had Scarlet fever at age 5 and it destroyed both eardrums, one that grew back scarred so I had lost a lot of my hearing and needed glasses. Got glasses in 5th grade and got my hearing fixed (sorta) in the 8th grade. So I was scared that I would be embarrassed in front of the class because I usually didn't know what was going on. I read and passed stuff pretty much on my own without help from the teacher: couldn't hear her. After having an eardrum put in and my mastoid bone rebuilt in the 8th grade I could hear better and my grades picked up from the average B & C's but I was still pretty quiet. As for the classmates last night it was mostly the ones from the rich side of town and I only went to school with them for 4 years. The first time at the middle school of only 6th graders and then again in high school of 10,11,12th grades. I lived on The Hill and it was rough. The rich and popular ones that lived on The Hill lived on the edges where the more expensive homes were. I lived in more middle class, not rich at all. So... there were few there that had come from The Hill. To be honest several hadn't either graduated or were dead, and some had moved away to make a better life. Then again, the few that were my friends are still in town so it's all good! Last edited by LTLTrukrWife; 11.01.2008 at 07.51 PM. Reason: spelling! |
