| Lady's Christmas dinner at my sister's church. WOW! I went to my sister’s church last night with my sister, my mom, and my niece, for a special lady’s Christmas dinner. It was so wonderful I just had to share it. They do this every year, but this is the first year I was able to go. What they do is so neat. They have 50 round tables with seating for 8 set up. They ask for volunteers from the ladies of the church for them to be “table hostesses” for the event. If you sign up to be a table hostess, you have to decorate your table, bring the plates, glasses, silverware, everything; you give your guests a small gift, and you spend the evening making your guests feel like royalty. It is the ladies chance to serve, and they really do this up big. Before the event everyone walks around and reviews the tables and then you get to vote on the table that is most beautiful. It’s like Martha Stewart kind of stuff – these ladies do such beautiful tables. Our table had a gorgeous gold table cloth. The plates were two sizes of square red plates with gold trim on them, stacked, with stemware to match and coffee cups that matched. In the center was a red velvet mat and on it were different beautiful, tall, glass candle holders of differing heights with burning candles in them. It was just gorgeous. At each place was a Christmas ornament with our names on them as markers and at the top of each setting was a small gift Bible and an angel Christmas ornament, all wrapped with a beautiful bow. I was just blown away with the beauty. The other tables were equally beautiful. The hostess introduced everyone (8 at each table), and kept the conversation going, all directed at how God has shown Himself faithful to us this year, how good He is, etc. Each table was released to go to the buffet one at a time so there was never a line, and the food was to die for. And the cutest thing was the men of the church also volunteer. They dressed in black slacks, white dress shirt, and red ties, and they scuttled around with water and tea pitchers and served as our waiters. When ours arrived at our table he announced to us “Ladies I come to serve you tonight as a representative of Jesus Christ, and I come to serve His daughters. May you understand that He came to this earth because He loves you so very much. He celebrates you, as I do tonight. Merry Christmas my sisters” It brought me to tears. The whole evening was just so beautiful, even down to the woman speaker who shared with us all that God has brought her through and reminded us of our special place in the world as His daughters. I needed that so much right now. It brought such a sacred feeling to Christmas, and I left feeling so loved by God. I hope you all get to experience something like this this holiday season.
