I got to see him! I got to see him!
He has said before that he was delivering near home but the the routes get switched and I never get to see him but this time (after a week apart, which feels like a year to a newbie like me) he actually did deliver to a Sears 5 minutes from my house and though he was an hour late I waited and waited and FINALLY saw the blue Werner truck.
Say what you will about Werner but it was the most beautiful site at that moment.
I saw him drive and back up , which I've never seen besides his CDL test.
They were delayed because the garage wasn't open and unfortunately they were delayed an hour but I got to see him that whole hour and it was GREAT.
He actually RAN to me, I've never got a greeting like that before. Surprisingly I think I was too happy to get bleary, but he did, it was so sweet.
After our hugs and kisses he went into venting about the trainer. He had a lot of pent up frustration that he couldn't let loose when he trainer was around.
After he got done I showed him all I had brought, sodas, socks, anything I thought he might need and we traded some stuff out of his truck. I got too see inside the cab, it's small yet not as small as I thought.
I met his trainer and I think Will getting a chance to get all his frustration off his chest to me will make him calmer towards his trainer because he does have a temper and even the trainer told me to remind him to calm down.
I understand Will though, I know how he gets but he's kept it respectful towards his trainer though I know he's probably clenching his teeth half the time.
It was so nice to see him.
I might see him tonight (around midnight) at another location as well.
I'm walking on air....

YAY!!!! I'm so happy you finally got to see him.

My DH is saying they *might* be able to come home in a week and a half or so. It'll only be for 2 days, and then out again for several more weeks, but man oh man, am I looking forward to those 48 hours with him!!!

I got to see him again! I'm feeling so blessed right now. Last night he said he would be nearby around midnight and I was going to see him. Then he called around 9 and said they were there.
I was so upset that I didn't get the news earlier because I couldn't reach his area till 10:30 ish - because in my fit I totally got lost and became a crying mess in the car.
But I did FINALLY reach him, bought him some dinner, we talked more. Only about an hour and then I let him go to sleep. He only got 1 hour of sleep last night - and won't get to sleep again till after 6pm at least.
It's really tough on him, he said he feels like he's in jail. The crummie roomate, the bunk bed.
When he was unemployed he got up when he felt like it, ate whatever, whenever, has the TV and computer and his friends and family nearby. Now it's all been stripped from him and he wishes he had one more moment of his old life. Lol.
I feel so bad for him - he feels pressured to make this work after all the time and money put into it but I wonder now that he's seen how truck driving really is, if he's really going to like this lifestyle?
He has 2 more weeks with a trainer and then he gets out on his on but Sears prefers team drivers and so he may get stuck with someone else when he really just wants to work alone.

welcome, you've been a trucker wife for nearly a year. My bf just started this month. I do hope as time goes on it gets easier!

It does get easier... you start to find things to do... but w/ my hubby things change the second I get accustomed to them. He works for a HORRIBLE company.

which company is that? My bf works for Werner, of course we've heard horrible things but they were the only ones to hire him straight out of school with no experience so we went with them. Right now he is still with a trainer delivering for Sears.

After reading some of the posts by you ladies, I'm reminded of how lucky and blessed I am to be able to travel with my hubby.

Last year, I went home for about 8 months, and only got to see him twice, as the company he works for rarely has loads going to, or coming from, northern Cali. BOY, was I ever so happy when he was able to come get me, and get back on the truck with him!

Thank you, ladies, for reminding me how lucky we are to be able to afford me being able to travel with my darling hubby!

He works for P.A.M. dedicated... it's very frustrating how often they switch things around on us. When he leaves we never know when to expect him back. Sometimes it's 3 days... last December he was gone the WHOLE month. It's normally 3 weeks at a time though... that's what we plan on.
