| Light house Trucker hugs go out to you. Great wife. OK ladies. I went with my hubby for 18 years but i never drove. Any questions feel FREE. Now I'm at home. I retired after 18 years but still play a huge part in his on the road life. I retired when i got Tinitus ringing of the ears. Something you get from being around all that noise. First of all please do the following. Always know where your hubby is. Don't be afraid to learn new things. Learn how to read a map, as light house says communication is a great key. Keep in contact, cell phone, chatting, texting, what ever works for you. Help your man out. Buy you a truck stop book or find a good one on line. Call and get his directions for him, call the shippers learn as much as you can about trucking. Don't be one of those women that don't even know what state hes going to. Help him in any way. Cook him good meals and send them with him. Fix home cooked stuff and put it in jars and bowls and if he has a microwave you have many things you can fix. We'll try to have a thread soon just on food and what we cook for our men. I won't say too much right now don't want to give you my 18 years all at once and over whelm you. Going with them is great, i loved it. we don't have kids though we had dogs and still have two. i can't wait to learn you gals. I'm 42 now, went with hubby for 18 years, we traveled 48 states and canada, i miss being with him, but love being home. Jacks Girl |

| Thanks for all the info. We do have a good cell phone plan which includes the computer. He started school a week ago and is loving it!! I so busy at work right now that it is probably a good thing he is away. I'm not lonely yet!! When the school year ends I probably will be though. I would love the recipes of the send off meals. My husband has chrones disease so we have to be very careful. He eats a lot of pasta and boiled chicken!! |

... I do the grocery shopping for his truck ... cook 50 million Hambuger Helpers (his fav) and some of my Italian fav's ... when he is ready to go out ... I usually go with him to the truck and unload and repack everything ... make up the bed and tidy up ... when I know of when he is exactly going to be home ... I will ask him what home cooked meals he wants ... Jacks I can not wait til you start a thread about your 18 years out on the road ... and share some of your stories, tips and recipies ... I am still pretty new to all this myself ...

| Well an AWESOME girlfriend nontheless! YOU GO GIRL! Wish my hubby liked Hamburger Helper! He's so fussy! LOL but just pack up leftovers of whatever am cooking while he's away...then am killing too birds with one stone. He loves my meatballs and rice, do a big batch in the slowcooker and divide up in little tins. The baking is what he appreciates the most..even hands some cookies out to other drivers! I think its cute. |

I never thought of freezing what I have been cooking while he is gone ... my daughter and I usually eat the leftovers ... I cook big when Crow is home tho ... I am not a baker ... and our oven is terrible about burning things ... but I am going to try to bake some things for him the next time he is home and goes out ... I have a cookie batch here always just incase someone is close enough to me so I can run them out ... I think that is sweet too ... but no one ever seems to run close by here ... lol

| That is a good idea about freezing the left overs, but I don't cook while Hubby is gone. LOL!!! I like to save jars and butter bowls anything that he can eat out of and toss out, sometimes he even brings the jars back. Old pickle jars and such make great little ways to send out left overs. I often make Spaghetti, and lasagna, soup beans, corn bread, and he'd not to happy about fried taters as left overs, but i fry bacon too and send with him. he also don't care for hamburger helper. Tuna in bags, and salmon cakes. I make home made cake now and then and send it with him it's a lot cheaper than the cakes and pies they sale you out there. Muffins work great. I'll start the a couple threads soon on ways to save money on the road we all can learn from each other. So glad to meet you gals. Since i'm new here may be you all can either give me links to where i can learn about you or just as light house did tell me a few things about yourself. thanks much. Jacks girl 42 no kids, travled with hubby for 18 years Christian I love to write Romance novels I love my two dogs Jack and Max Love working with my hands, garden, beads, sew a little, taking pictures, surfing the net, I'm not much for cooking but learning more all the time. hey i spent 18 years saying Yes I'll have chicken Parmesan.
