| Hey CBtruckers Wife! Well, my hubby has been out with his trainer for about 5 days now. And I will agree that for me the first 2 or 3 days were THE WORST! And the worst part for me is that I am a terrible liar and TRIED SO HARD to act like I was fine, but I was soooo NOT fine-- and he knew it, no matter how hard I tried to act cheerful and normal! Like I have said before though, I have wonderful in laws and friends pretty close here, so they just would not leave me alone... and that made him feel better. About the 3rd day, he started missing me so much that he started wondering if he could do this or not too. It was at this time that I knew he needed me to give him a "pep talk", which (believe me) I wanted to consist of "COME HOME AND HOLD ME...", but instead I told him how he COULD do this and how it would be so much better when he had his own truck (which he agreed). I think it must be a normal emotion. I imagine that being cooped up 24/7 with another guy he barely knows (even if though his trainer is also a great guy), must be difficult. And while I got to see fireworks with my hubs 2 year old nephew (who thought it was magical), my hubby was in a truck stop somewhere showering. Sometimes I have felt like it wasn't fair that he leaves me at home and heads out on this new adventure. But this week I realized that he is the one that will miss out, and I think he is realizing that now. With that said, no great thing ever comes free and no free things are ever great. If trucking was easy, EVERY ONE would do it! I imagine it takes some getting used to (by ALL involved). My hubby is probably going to be out for 12 days and home for 2 days (repeat), unless they can swing home time more often. It is not ideal, but I can do it for a while until something regional comes along and he might be able to get home every weekend. |

I see your from Florida too(much further south then me); do you mind telling me how your hubby likes Covenant Transport? I will be going to school this month and my husband was prehired with them so we're planning on team driving for them when we are done. Never sure how getting home is since we live in Florida and also wondering about the miles. I sure hope your day gets better |

| from where we are in FL.... Can't speak for anybody else, but we were leased to a co. in MN, few weeks out then about a week home. But then again, O/O with more than one truck. Seems now that he is with a local co., he's been home more often. Seemed the prob wasn't getting in FL. Rather it was harder to get back out!!

| Thank you for your response. It is nice to talk to someone who is at the same point as I am. It also nice to know that maybe what my hubby was feeling is normal. I can understand it. But after we talked I got a little nervous because we would be in a world of hurt if he decided to quit without having something else to go to. Did I understand that even in training your husband is coming home after 12 days for the 2 days? That would be nice. At Werner they keep them out 6-8 weeks straight for training! I did hear that at some point my hubby will get to go to Florida to sit for 2 days while his trainer gets his 2 days off. Hubby is looking forward to that he loves Florida unfortunately it won't be a beach front motel he would be waiting in the trainer lives in the Lakeland area. I wish I had a friend that would just happen to be going to Florida at that time. "Wishful thinking gives you a happy thought if only for a moment" it is allowed you know. Dezmen1: I haven't been doing this for long but the best advice is find something like doing and do it. Keep yourself busy is the best way. Maybe there is something you haven't had the time to do. Well now is the time. I have been trying to do things around the house that would surprise my hubby when he gets home. I also thought maybe this would be a good time to try again and lose some weight. To bad there isn't a way to lose all I have to lose it 6-8 weeks. This forum is the best. Just keep talking or typing your way through. There are others here that do know how you feel. |

| Well..I go for my DOT physical (to start truck driving school on the 27th) on Wednesday and was hoping my hubby would be home to go with me. We were going to visit the school, see where I will be living and get the route down (it is 1 1/2 hours away in a much bigger town then I'm used to). He is in KY on a trip so I'll have to do it on my own. I'm a pretty shy person so all of this is really pushing me out of my confort zone!!! |
