well three weeks into basically NOT eating any of the cakes and cookies at the office. Though I slip up now and again has helped me to lose 5lbs so far and 8lbs from my highest weight that made me start this diet thread in the first place. I saw bf again last night (I'm glad he's regional and I get to spend maybe 3 hours a week with him at various places when he's nearby) and I think he's losing weight too. He's more active and has less time to snack now that he's working. I don't know if he noticed a dif on the belt loops but I thought I noticed something when hugging him and I told him so.
He finally gets a break Sunday to Tuesday, I can't wait to have him home!

Hi all! Room for one more?

Since Mothers Day I'm down 19 pounds, but I still have quite a bit to go (50 +/-). I never knew that having the DH out on the road would affect my diet, but it did. Of course, the girls and I are eating a lot better, but without him here, I don't get my free time and exercise is a little harder to come by. There's also the depressive oh.great.i'm.a.single.mom.again.and.i.feel.so.alon e moments that turn me into a sugar junkie and I overdo it on the snacks. UGH!!!!

I know it sounds weird, but I think losing weight while he's out on the road will be the best diet plan ever. I've lost weight in the past, but because he saw me every day, he didn't really notice the changes. Now he *has* to, right? LOL Also, since he'll only be home a couple days at a time, I don't feel like I have to be super restrictive on my eating when he is home, because I'll have plenty of time to work off the damage.

Room for plenty more.
When I got my own apt in 2007 I had all these grandiose plans for myself and lost about 20lbs in 3 mos. Then I met the bf and not to place all blame on him but we ate out A Lot, multiple times a week and I gained so much in the 1.5 yrs with him it must be a record.
With him gone I want to improve myself and impress him so I'm back on a diet. Which really right now consists of avoiding the extra snacks in between meals and not eating out as much.
Good luck on your dieting and if you have any tips or useful articles, post them here

I guess the most helpful thing for me is to track everything I eat. If you bite it, write it. There have been times where I completely underestimated what I've eaten, and there are other times where I just want a handful of crackers but I'm too lazy to write it down and the temptation dissolves.

Also, when I do go to the grocery store, I make sure to wash, cut and put my fruits and veggies into convenient snack sized bags immediately. When I do get munchy, it's just as easy to grab a bag of grapes or carrots as it is to grab a handful of cookies. Nobody wants to sit there and prep a snack when the cookies are right there, ready to be eaten.

well he came home and I completely fell off the wagon LOL. It's hard to diet when no one else is! I just plan to get back on track (starting today) and I'm not going near the scale till next week. If I maintained 8lb loss I'll consider myself lucky!!!

I stepped on the scale - I HAD too!! I couldn't take not knowing how ruined I was for the weekend Will was home. Turns out I'm only up a few ounces. So tally so far is around 8lbs in 5 weeks just by trying to be aware of my decisions and saying NO very, very often!!!
I don't have a mini goal in mind but I really do hope to lose more weight by the time Will comes home (I think around 9/22) because I don't think he noticed the 8 lbs at all.
When I met him I was close to 50lbs lighter than I am now!!! By the time I drop all that he'll think I'm a whole new me when actually I'm the same me he first met!

* add 1 lb to my total. 9lbs in 5 weeks! So close to that round 10 lb number!
