Help 2 Getting ready for winter at home?

Ok ladies what do you do to get ready for winter at home??

Storm windows, heat tapes, checking doors and windows for air leaks, putting in plug in insulation slips, making sure you have salt for the sidewalk and drive, know where your shovel is, emergency kit for house and car???

Since we don't get much snow, I don't have to worry about salt... but

Has everyone got flashlights where they can find them? Extra Firewood stacked in case the power goes out? Extra blankets? Sandbags ready? (This IS an El Nino year, and around here that means RAIN and alot of it!) Is your drivers truck appropriately stocked??

I clean the entire house and yard. I clean out the heat vents and clean the furnace. I make sure all the blankets are washed and clean and I put flannel sheets on all the beds, even the one in the truck. I am in the process of pulling out all the coats, hats and gloves and checking to see if everyone has winter boots. We don't have a wood stove or fireplace inside. But we do have a fireplace outside and a gas grill, so I also buy instant coffee and stock up on water. We cover the fireplace outside with a piece of plywood and stack wood on pallets and cover them up. I also learned from my father that in case the lights go out and you have snow, you may need freezer bags. We give the kids the freezer bags they fill them with snow, we seal them and put them in the refrigerator and freezer to help keep it cold while the lights are off.

Wish I could park my mustang for the winter. I know it would be hard but I worry about her with all the salt and #### they put on the road in winter. But unfortunately cannot afford a beater vehicle. So far we have been lucky. One short period of snow and cold in early October but since has been nice. Supposed to be sunny and "warm" here this coming week, so all is good.

As for the rest, I live in an apartment so not much yard work to do, have the ice melter and the ice scraper/brush for my car. So I'm set. Will have to check with my driver to see what he needs but i think he is good to go too.
