WOW...Thought and plan goes into naming by kids.

All my dogs from previous past to now, I spend some time thinking about interesting names.

The Girls however were relatively easy since I wanted their names to begin with the same letter.

The rest is history!

Alot of thought went in mine.... His name is Valentine Bandit. Valentine because he was a Valentine gift from my hubby, and Bandit because he has a black mask. But we just call him Bandit.

Dog #2 Queper: PBMBD (pure bred michigan brown dog) Queper is SLANG for 1/4lb of pot, named by my eldest step-son who rescued him as a puppy

Dog #3 Yahoo: PBMBD followed me to my front door one day as a puppy, been here ever since

Dog #4 Frankie: Charpei/Mastif mix. Brought to our front door by one of step-sons friends, because he thought "Frankie" was one of ours. Dog named after him.

Dog #5 Suzie: Bovier Des Flandres, originally a rescue transport to Boise that the lady refused to take. I never could remember her "original" name and I called her SUZIE from day one.

Dog #6 Jackson GSD, came from Jackson County Animal Shelter in Jackson, MI. Heart defect kept him from being adoptable, and he wasnt expected to live longer than 1 year....3 years ago.

Assorted foster dogs......they come and go.

My current pet, a cat is named Salem. She walked up to me the day before halloween , she acts friggin crazy and like she has no sense at all then turns around and wants to be held and petted. just figured her name was perfect for her . shes had a home ever since. and this comes from someone who's not all big on the feline species. she has kinda changed my mind though since i have ahd her.

HORRIBLE NEWS....

Jackson (dog#6 above) has had a terrible ear infection that was antibiotic resistant. We took him to the vet today, and when the vet sedated him, Jackson passed away. We had been warned long ago, that sedating him could possible kill him because of his bad heart, but our choices were to:
  1. Allow his ear infection to torture him
  2. euthanize him
  3. take the chance that he would survive sedation and get his ear fixed.
I think we made the right choice.

He lived 3 years longer than expected because of his heart defect, and 4 years longer than he would have if he was left in the Shelter in Jackson, MI.

SAD,
At least he had a loving human family to the end.

Sorry for your loss, I know that heartache all to well.....I am glad he had a good family and was given a chance to live a happy life.............which apparently nobody else was willing to give him.

If we get another dog with a bad heart, we aren't going to treat him any differently than any other dog we welcome into our home.

I was working on a remote mine, and a cat arrived at my house, walked in and curled up on my favourite chair. Not knowing whether she was going to stay for a day a week or forever, I called her Kitty, and that remained her name until we had to put her to sleep 13 years later.
