I wonder if they would have given a child back in the same circumstances. I really think he should never be allowed to own another pet ever let alone the one he has shown such disregard for already.

How awful!! I can't stand to see pets mistreated Why did he even want the dog back to begin with?!

This is off the thread, but I wish there was someone to call when I see all these dogs running up and down the road when I'm driving. There's so many of them! Most are starving, and look so lost I don't think the local law enforcement in the rural areas care though, and if I were to stop for all of them not only would I lose my job, I just don't have the funds to care for them. As many as there would be there's no way I could find that many homes for them either. Really, I would rather see them put down though than out there starving to death and/or hurt. I stop for them in my personal vehicle when they'll come to me, but some run in fear. Are the county services responsible to pick them up if someone calls in?

I hate to say it, but it is usually easier to get a kid back than an animal.

Being involved in "Rescue" for many years, I have done (and occasionally still do) the same thing; pick up "lost dogs". But sometimes it is hard to find a rescue for them, even with my contacts.
It IS a sad thing to see unwanted pets, but you have to place the blame where it belongs.....on STOOPID people.

I live in Ohio, so I can say this - Ohio and animals (cruelty, leash laws, etc.) do not mix. Noone cares on a higher level and nothing is ever done. We are going through leash law regulations right now, noone knows anything, so noone wants to do anything. The "higher" ups and the idiots that abuse or do not take care of the animals are stupid.
