Folks,

Sorry I'm late to this party. The Rolling Rescue idea sounds wonderful to me - if I end up OTR (still job hunting), I'll make sure I can carry pets with me.

At present, I have one rescued dog at the house, along with my retired SAR dog (abused by his first handler, of all people!) and a mutt. (we won't talk about the cats).

Given that <ahem> we already exceed the legal number of critters in the house, we can't foster any. BUT! As I say, if I go OTR, I'll be glad to submit my app to RR. I may anyway - the "Local" job I've applied for covers a little bit of central Colorado (Denver to Rifle, and expands a bit on each side of I-70), so the occasional delivery might be possible. Or maybe just a handshake at each end to facilitate getting the pooch from one side of the world to the other.

I didn't know there was a legal household critter limit. They haven't inspected my house yet. LOL
Even a "local" job would help in transports, most of the Transports RollingRescue does is a "run" of smaller transports thumbtacked together.
I am not sure we have much need for "Denver to Rifle". But still if the need is there, you could be a help even the relatively short distance you travel.

I see this has been quiet for a bit, but I have a question. With proper precautions, can you still rescue transport if you have a personal pet in the truck?

Yes, I do it all the time, but two important questions need to be answered first:
  1. does YOUR pet get along well with other pets
  2. and this question MUST be asked of the rescue the transport pet is picked up from: does the "rescue" get along well with other pets.
Also, I don't transport a "dirty" pet, one that is ill or one that has "hitch-hikers" for obvious reasons.
