Dog Lovers/Rescue Drivers Needed

Hey Guys, I am looking to start a thread where I can give out info on where a dog is that is in desperate need of you to take them to their new homes from an abusive or needy situation. Im starting here with Prime drivers because from what I have seen. We are among the best personable drivers in the industry. We are going to need those that we can trust to do this because it is hard not to fall in love with the animal while they are on the truck. Trust me when I say that I totally understand. But doing it is as rewarding as taking a child to a family that will care for it for life. There may be some questions to answer for that reason but if you have the heart and the character to do so then let me know. I work close with a gut named Joe that has the Boston Terrier rescue of Knoxville and he works close with everyone else. If you have seen Animal Cops on TV then you know what we are up against. We need special drivers for some special need dogs, so if you are 1 of the many then please let me know. Every one of us can make a difference in this world and this is one way to do so.

Be good and be safe

I believe that member Roadkill is who you are wanting to get in touch with.

I'm going to move this thread to the pet section. That might generate more interest in your needs. Best of luck.

Thanks again! I just got here from there as well. Honestly, I didnt know this was here but I am glad that it is. Its a great a rewarding thing to know that you are making a difference in the animals life as well as some new owners life. Sometimes it is just to get them out of a life a death situation and into a foster care where they can be treated and placed. I keep in contact with the new owners and get pictures all the time.

Thanks again!

Hi Glenn,
My sig-other and I have been involved in rescue for over 10 years now (she might have a different story, but you know how that goes). Anyway, we use a pretty extensive network of animal shelters, rescue groups, foster homes and 4-wheel transport volunteers. What we NEED is more trucker transport volunteers.
As you already know, truckers "can do it longer".
Any help you or other Prime drivers could offer is greatly needed and would be much appreciated.

We have had many "requests" for help (transports) that we just cant fill, because of the logistics (not having driver/drivers in the area).

We understand the importance of having a "hand-off" scheduled specifically FOR the trucker, as well as the importance of asking that the pets transported by our trucker volunteers are clean and parasite free.

While having an email address and Internet access while OTR isn't necessary, it does help. But, having a cell phone to keep in contact with our transport coordinators and "hand-off" drivers IS necessary.

Our "Sign-Up" page is HERE: [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.
All that is necessary at first is name, email address (if available) and cell phone number. I will forward this information to the Coordinator.
NOTE: It IS NOT necessary to join the "RollingRescue Yahoo Group" to be a "Transport Volunteer", and truthfully, I would advise against it....unless you want a couple hundred emails per day. (LOL)

Hey bud,

Glad to know that you are around to help out these poor guys. How do we coordinate efforts from drivers to get these guys from one place to the other? In other words, we need to have a thread that we can list the needs and have volunteers check it each day to see if they are in an area that they can be of help or will be in the next few days. For instance, I am in Grand rapids and will be in Detroit tomorrow but I am not sure of where I am going from there. I work the NE area and Im an o/o so have some leeway and freedoms that others may not. But I have been known to keep a kid (dog) with me for a week until I got them close enough to coordinate a drop off. Its extremely rewarding. You just need to love them like your own but be willing to give them up for the better good. So again, how do we coordinate this effort. You have been at this for a while so you lead and I will follow. I get rescue need e-mails all the time but we tend to have a good network and for the most part we get it done one way or the other. We deal with a lot of boxers and Bostons and they love to ride. Give me your thoughts on this if you would. I have to do everything that I can for the poor guys. Its just who I am.

Hey Bickman,
Is there a way that we can also still keep this thread over on the Prime link? There are a lot of o/o over there (I am one of them) that have bigger freedoms than others do plus we can all coordinate with Roadkill to get these guys from one spot to the other. We just have to find the best way to get it together for the recruiting effort

I am not sure that starting a thread here is a good idea, for one reason there would have to be information posted that would violate Forum Rules (phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses ect).
Having done this for a good number of years, the best way we have found is, to supply the necessary contact information only to the Transport Coordinator(s). They, in turn pass that information along to the drivers involved in that specific transport only.
That way, the "exposure" of personal information is limited to only those who need it.
It DOES help, if the truck driver wishing to "transport" either drop an email or call one of the Coordinators and let them know the "area" they are operating in, or the origin and destination of their loads.
