PETA Opposes Tribute to Fried Chicken

PETA Opposes Tribute to Fried Chicken

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Animals rights advocates are squawking at a measure that would make fried chicken Kentucky's official picnic food.
State Rep. Charles Siler is sponsoring legislation to assign the designation to KFC's "finger lickin' good" chicken, first served by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1940.

The late colonel's fried chicken deserves the title because of the worldwide attention and economic benefit it has brought to the state, Siler said. KFC, a subsidiary of Louisville-based Yum Brands Inc., has 11,000 restaurants in more than 80 countries.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals bristles at the idea. The animal rights group claims that the chickens KFC serves are abused, even tortured.

"If the state legislature moves forward with this one, then they should change Kentucky's state bird from the cardinal to the debeaked, crippled, scalded, diseased, dead chicken," said Bruce Friedrich, PETA vice president.

PETA has been involved in a long-standing battle with KFC, and even began a push two years ago to have a bust of the bespectacled Colonel Sanders removed from the Kentucky Capitol. Sanders, with his white goatee and black string tie, became recognizable worldwide by marketing his fried chicken.

The goal of the animal rights movement is to place unnecessary restrictions on ordinary people. Today's activists want to force everyone to become vegans and wear nothing but cotton, rayon, and rubber. They want to ban hunting, fishing, zoos, rodeos, and pet ownership. They even want to outlaw the use of animals in the search for cures for AIDS, Parkinson's Disease, and cancer. And a growing number are busy taking the law into their hands and resorting to violent crime.

That said, I think I'll head to town tonight for a 4 peice KFC dinner. YUMMY!

One of the funniest things I have ever heard of was a movement to send the remains of a KFC chicken bucket ie: the chicken bones. to:

Resorting to Violent crime is putting it mildly. Three "groups" (ALF, ELF and another I can't remember) are listed on the DOMESTIC TERROR Groups list with Homeland Security.

(I am sure the liberal whackos on this board will make a stupid comment about this)

The other exreemist group that you can't recall offhand is HSUS

That stands for the Humane Society of the United States, which to the general uninformed public sounds like the local Humane society that takes in unwanted dogs and cats. NOT!! They are 2 TOTALY seperate groups

HSUS is the leftist whacko group who falls under the description of......
