| Utah legislature passed S.B. 297 Utah passes anti-torture bill  Thank you members! Because of your support, the Utah legislature passed S.B. 297. This new law makes the torture of a dog or cat a felony on the first offense in Utah. In 2007, Utah was considered one of the top five worst states in the country in terms of animal protection laws. This new law is a huge victory for animal welfare advocates everywhere. Best Friends founder Gregory Castle followed the process from beginning to end and stated, "I've been tremendously impressed and delighted with the enthusiastic and energetic support that Best Friends members have given this effort during the last few months. Many legislators have told me that they have received hundreds and hundreds of calls and emails from our members. There is no doubt it has been a huge help in getting this important legislation passed. My personal thanks to all those who have made their voices heard for the animals." Your voice made the difference. With your help we can continue to spread the message as we try to save as many animals as possible through awareness, education and action. With this online grassroots movement, we can confront puppy mills, stop breed specific legislation, support spay and neuter initiatives, and bring about a time of no more homeless pets.

| It should be a Felony anyway for every state. Iam would get a felony for doing harm to the person who did harm to my dog.....................  |
