Florida Police Investigate After Horse Mysteriously Cut, Burned in Horrific Case of Animal Abuse

A Florida horse named Sunny has seen some dark times recently. The Levy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after the horse was violently cut and burned late Friday in a horrific case of animal abuse, the third such attack against the horse in one month, MyFOXOrlando reported.

The owners of Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc., where the 15-year-old Palomino lives in Ocala, Fla., say Sunny is one of two horses saved from an auction the day before Easter.
Beauty’s Haven owners found the fresh wounds on Sunny on Saturday morning, which appeared to have been caused by a whip or a blunt instrument, MyFOXOrlando reported.

Sunny also suffered from cigarette burns on his skin, and had a large scrape on his shoulder. The shoulder wound may have been self-inflicted as the horse attempted to escape the abuse.
