Jersey was being quarantined for attacking another dog and its owner. Sarah Eldredge said Jersey just started charging at her dog and while trying to break them up she got bit. Eldredge asked animal control for a dangerous dog hearing.

In the meantime, the dog had to be held at the shelter for ten days because it was not up to date on its rabies vaccination. Eight days after the quarantine period ended, the shelter thought the owner wasn't coming back and euthanized the dog.
