Catprint Red Pet Roosters feeling bad economy

With bad economy, will pet owners chicken out?
Seattle Post Intelligencer

Quote:
Maybe you should adopt a rooster. People have been dropping them off at the Seattle Animal Shelter, reports Casey McNerthney, and as long as you don't mind being woken up at 6 a.m., they make pretty good pets.

For all animals, the need for adoption is growing with the sinking economy.
During the last three months, the shelter has taken in 497 surrendered animals –17 more than the same period last year.
Though the Seattle Humane Society Seattle/King County hasn't had the same rooster problem, chief executive officer Brenda Barnette told McNerthney their Bellevue shelter is hearing some of the same things.

OMG... Roosters are not pets, they are DINNER!

We raise chickens and I can attest to the fact that roosters do NOT care what time it is. After hearing ERR-ERR... ERR-ERR... ERRRRRRRRR!!! at all hours of the day and night, lemme tell ya... you have no problem coating mr. rooster in some crispy batter and having a Kentucky Fried Snack.
