Voters Ban Greyhound Racing for 2010

Massachusetts voters approved Question 3, a ballot initiative prohibiting greyhound dog racing, on Tuesday.
The state's two racetracks will officially close at the beginning of 2010, relinquishing the approximate 800 dogs and 1,000 employees that helped run the gambling operation.
While not a victory for the employees who will find themselves without a job in little over a year, the measure is a success for the greyhounds, say animal activists, who have claimed the dogs were abused.
