Veterinarian uses grant to start program to help homeless pets Veterinarian uses grant to start program to help homeless pets Quote: OCALA — Veterinarian Kevin Stoothoff, who owns South Ocala Animal Clinic, is going to be offering help to homeless people's pets. Quote: "We are going to start this month providing food as well as basic veterinary care," Stoothoff said. "The dilemma with a lot of these homeless people — a concern they have — they feel if they try to approach anybody for help with pets, they feel their pets would be taken away from them for neglect." After seeing a notice in a veterinary magazine, Stoothoff applied for and received a $600 grant from Feeding Pets of the Homeless, a nonprofit organization in Carson City, Nev., that provides food for homeless people's pets.
