Flea treatments?

Fleas carry disease and are a pain to get rid of once they take up residence in your home....how do you cope?

Never had a problem with fleas
Until my daughter decided to get a cat and let it live part time outside
Now two years later my dog still gets fleas a couple of times a year
I buy frontline plus and its amazing
Kind of expensive $45 for three months worth of treatments
But it gets rid of the fleas over night
I have tried everything else with no succes

The hard part is ripping apart the house and all that darn extra cleaning

We treat the yard and the dogs.

We had a time with ticks more then fleas last year and ended up spraying the yard quite a bit.

I haven't needed to deal with that here, but when we lived in Florida, it was a complete nightmare! We were treating everything that had 4 legs and everything else too - yard, animals, house, laundry, you name it. I always know when they are in the house, because for some reason the little buggers really like to bite me. Guess it's my sweet disposition!

We didn't have problems until we bought our house and got the dog. When it was just the one cat who never went outside we didn't have a problem, but add the dog and it got nuts.

My inlaws had a dog they kept in the house. They had fleas really bad. They tried everything to rid the house of these. there was a web site that said to use 20 mule team borax soap powders, you sprinkle it all over the floor and leave it for a couple days. then vacum it up. we did this a few times and it works. They now do it once evey two weeks and no fleas.

We have our puppy on a once a month oral medication... not sure what it's called but so far no problems. When we had our cat we had a huge problem... we actually had to bomb twice and it seemed to help.

I heard Borax is the best remedy for fleas though. I never used it, but when I was looking on the bnet about it.. that's what everyone suggests. I also heard if you use cider bedding if your dog or cat has a place outside helps too.
