Well, we really weren't all that original when we named our animals. We adopted Ms.Kitty and that was already her name. We decided on KoKo because she's a chocolate lab, Ginger because she's an apricot colored toy poodle and I have no idea why we named our yellow lab Jessie.

ChopperI

I recently lost a dog I had for 13 years. Although the family ageed on the name, I rarely used it. For reasons unknown, I had different pet names that I alternated over the months and years. As with most pets, I think she was responding to my voice and emotions anyway, as opposed to the name itself.

Winky

Winky was mauled by a tomcat when she was a baby. The vet wanted to put her down, put my daughter wouldn't allow it and brought her home and nursed her along. Slow growing up as if her growth was stunted, but finally reached average size. Hands down the sweetest cat I have ever known.

My dog Duke and cat Dutchess

Here's my dog and cat. Duke and Dutchess. Duke is a yellow lab, great dane mix and Dutchess is Siamese.

Dutchess runs the house, Duke is afraid of rabbits and won't go outside if a rabbit is in the yard.

Names

Duke got his name when I found him on the side of the road. He just looked like a Duke.

Dutchess got her name because she pushed duke around all the time. LOL.

Talking

Although our dog looks nothing like her namesake,(Our mutt is dark brown & black)She is just as goofy, and endearing....and so, we named her after Jenna Elfman's character, Dharma, of "Dharma and Greg" (I loved that show,BTW!)

We have a Shih Tzu named Bernie. When we got him as a pup he had/has the same colors and markings as a St. Bernard, just longer hair. So we got Bernie from Bernard. Plus we though the name was catchy and funny. When I invite family up to visit us, I say, "Come spend a weekend with Bernie"(from the movie). LOL....

Cat Jack came with the cat when he was adopted. His nickname is Buddy.

Cat Sunny just looked like she walked on Sunshine. Very sweet, bright face, We call her Shi&!$% kitty because she likes to just miss the litter pan...

I just started calling Little Bit the cat her name even though we decided on Lamb Chop

Idgie the cat got her name from Fried Green Tomatoes. Her nickname is either Bot because she's silver and moves like a robot or Princess Stewie because she has many of the same looks and attitudes at Stewie on Family Guy.

Mama Cat got her name because she was quite the slutty kitty and even ate some of her kids.

You're going to laugh at this but my dog's name is Soy because I'm a vegetarian

And Potter, the other dog, got her name from her mother who's a Potter.

Your name stories are hilarious.
