Currently we only have 2 pets, a yellow lab and a red devil fish The lab is Brandi (adopted her and that was already her name) but we also call her Barndy (mutation of her actual name), DDD (d*** dumb dog) and the latest nick is Fat Four Footed Furflinger (she's a tad overweight and sheds nonstop). Red devil fish is Knothead. He is a biter, an interior decorator in his tank and just started developing his trademark "knot" on his head. We had an Oscar for a few years that was "OzzY", pretty obvious where that name came, he was a biter too.

| I usually name my pets after cartoon characters. Example: The last cat I had was named Stimpy after the cat on the show Ren and Stimpy and he was just as stupid and fat as the cat he was named after. However, that being said, my current cat is named Diesel(we just call him "D") because he purrs so loud that it reminds me of the clatter of a diesel engine. B series 24 valve Cummins comes to mind when he starts purring. Scott

You have to wait for them to earn a name. My cat's name is Pain. Short for pain in the ***.

I have 3 pets. My husband and I used to watch the tv show Charmed a lot. We adopted our first cat in AZ and named her Phoebe....aka fatcat, fleabite. The second one we got here in TN we named her Piper...aka Pest kitty and last but not least we adopted a chi who they just found wondering the streets so he didnt have a real name so we call him Leo.

I have a Himalayan named Annie because she was an orphan. My last cat's name was Oliver for the same reason. He picked me at the Cat Protection Society. Oliver's nickname was Pookie. I had a biker friend who would come over and call him Pookie and it sounded so funny coming from him! Annie's nickname is Sissy or Sisseroo. She responds to either. She also responds to "fishy-fishy," "snicky-snacky" and "noshie-noshie," even though she knows those aren't her names! When I say those, she automatically licks her lips, like Pavlov's dogs.

I have a friend who has a big fat 30 lb. Maine coon named Lucyfur, or Lucy for short. She is so big that when she had to go to the vet, she wouldn't fit through the door of the cat carrier. We had to take it apart and reconstruct it around her. She got so fat she couldn't lick her own butt, so the groomer shaved her pretty much from the waist down for sanitary reasons. My friend went on vacation and asked 3 of us to look in on her cat and make sure she had some food. She didn't tell us that we were all going to be looking in on Lucy, she just assumed that between the three of us, her cat wouldn't starve to death. All three of us looked in on her and all three of us fed her, and the cat ate like a king, and when my friend came back, she found her cat even fatter. Not only that, but she had sat down on her big fat butt and dragged it around with her paws and left skidmarks all over my friend's off-white carpet. If Lucy were human, I think she would be an opera singer. My friend, Patti, was watching Madam Butterfly on TV, and at the end, during the big finale, when the fat lady was singing the aria, Lucy sat transfixed at the TV and howled right along with her. I can just picture her in a helmet with horns sticking out the sides. Last edited by mebesg; 09.23.2009 at 02.11 AM. Reason: spelling
