I think Schneider has what 8000 drivers, every driver and their brother will now know don't mess with Schneider
How many drivers sneak and break rules
Now they will think twice about this
To the company its all about keeping the company running
The rules they have are there for a reason

It's a rule, no pets. George did the right thing except he didn't call in and tell anyone about picking up an injured dog. Things MIGHT have gone differently if he had. But again that's after the fact.
DOXYGIRL have you really thoroughly read the other posts, they do make sense? Not one post says he should have left the dog. Never did see a reply about injuries or condition of the dog. Especially mine about the animals I care for.

PEDA????
Perhaps you mean PETA?
PETA could care less about ANY animal. They KILLED over 90% of the pets that came into their shelters over the past 5 years.

IN ADDITION: most State/County/Municipal shelters will euthanize a PIT BULL immediately.
I belong to the "RollingRescue' transport group ([LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. ) and if you, or anyone else find a stray dog, send me a PM with info on the dog and your email address, and I will work diligently to help you find a RESCUE for the dog.

Your biggest problem would be getting buried in the news due to the presidential inauguration.
See, I'm O.K with your coment you right I already have a few offers not from this site but because my record clean and I have all posible endorsments. Be cool don't drown in you own misery Schneider-boy

txrookie, really cute dog pic! we had them before they were in "vogue" coolest smartest dogs there ever were. sometimes i wondered who was in charge. actually had them from the early '70's to a few yrs ago. they lived long lives and died of what old dogs die from. until a person lives with one they have no idea... lol

Now, it's time for me to armchair quarterback, second guess or whatever you want to call it. George finds the dog. Instead of taking it as far as he did. He could have called the company and told them he found an injured dog on the side of the road. He could have called the sheriff or gone with the dog to the nearest exit and got help. This is all coulda, woulda, shoulda. I wasnt there so I can't really say what I would have done. I would have done something. What were the injuries?
ABJZ is making good sense and the thing about farms dogs is oh so true. Sometimes dogs just go out on little side trips. Big difference between city dogs and country dogs. True, puppies usually don't so maybe it was dumped, strayed or whatever.
What's done is done. George is a great guy for doing what he did.
Regarding his employer, now that the dust has settled, why not call and talk to someone, explain fully, and ask to come back to work? It won't hurt to ask.
Does Schneider have a no pet policy? If they do, as many carriers do, its for some of the following reasons. 1. some people let their pets tear up the truck, 2. some people let their pets use the truck as a potty. 3. pet dander, someone with allergies might get the truck next, 4. many customers will not allow a pet on the grounds due to the fact that drivers let their pets do their "business" on the manicured lawns etc and don't pick it up and some other disgusting things. 5. when a driver with a pet is in line for a dispatch, what happens if its a place getting the load doesn't allow pets? You just lost a load and maybe jeapordized business since you couldn't take it. The list is endless and I won't even go into time studies about lost time due to pets.
Taking it to the news is a neat idea, with all the stuff going on about a new president, do you think that this would be a priority?
George, you did what you thought was right and I applaud you for it. Having had pittbulls for many years, with all the hype, we quit telling anyone what they were. Yup, mixed breed dog, cute isnt it?
These are my opinions and opinions are like xxxholes everyone has one. LOL. George, good luck. If you've got a good record, etc. you'll be back to work as soon as you want to be.
George, what was the condition of the dog when you found it? It's very cute in the pic.
Let us know how things go and enjoy the best dog you'll ever have if you learn to understand the mind of a pittbull LOL
Thanks,
I named him Louie some old guy at Wal-Mart told me that he looks like
Louisiana type Pit whatever it means, he could be from the local farm however when I found him his jaw was bleeding and left rear leg had deep cut
he didn't move because I think he had no more energy left. Now he eats like
crazy he got shots and growing real fast my kids love him. Yep I could drop him with first police curser I had a lot of options but let me tell you I'm the happiest man alive I got real good DOG and I didn't even plan to have a DOG life is full of surprises and everything is for good. I lost my job but instead I have something real good an animal with good hart and
now I know there are companies with animal face and alarming color...

Hey Abiz! I never owned a dog before so I don't know anything about shelters. I was thinking hard what to do... And couldn't find right solution...Puppy was looking at me with the "puppy face" I kept driving
trying to find excuse to keep him another hour in my truck...So when they fired me... There was only me and dog...But I made my mind...and kept him...There was no logic in my action pure emotional decision and I'm not
very emotional person. Best, George.

you should get your job back it is not like you were telling them you were going to take a pet with you everywhere you go ...these were extenduating circumstances under a diressfull situation....diressfull because you DO have a heart and cared for an animal that could not care for him/herself!

I stand firm ground on my belief...you deserve your job back should NEVER have been fired and you did the RIGHT thing!

Hugs
Doxygirl

Iam sending you one big hand shake from one animal "angel" to another!

PS and George what goes around comes around .....would you please let me know when you get your new and improved job that has better morals in regards to animals!
Thanks Doxygirl! I will, Best, George.
